"Would you like a ride?"

" Yea that would be great." I managed a weak smile. This man could murder me tonight, but if it meant seeing Alex that was a chance I would take.

"I'm John," he smiled revealing a missing front tooth, his large hand reaching out to mine. John, typical tough guy name. Can't say I'm surprised.

I just looked up at his expectant face and flatly said, "Jack." as I snaked past him to the semi truck. Friendliness wasn't exactly in my vocabulary considering the situation.

---------------------------------------------

John's POV

I couldn't but stare in curiosity as the the meek, scrawny man made his way to the worn out seats of my vehicle.

"Jack." I spoke aloud to myself. "Huhm." it sounded like a name fit for the tabloids, no doubt he'd be famous someday. Hell, he probably is. I wouldn't know, I'm not one to keep up with the media.

Shrugging off the thoughts I made my way over to the car. I looked over at the poor guy with pity, I don't have to be a

psychiatrist to know something was eating him up from inside.

"So where you headed?" I cleared my throat, trying to act as normal as possible. Don't want to come off as one of those stereotypical guy that pick up hitchhikers.

"Baltimore.." he said almost inaudible.

I couldn't help but gasp in shock, that was all the way across the world, okay across the states, I've been told I can be a tad dramatic.

Some hidden force drove me to agree, I don't know why, I felt that I had to.

Coughing slightly into the silence, I start up the truck and begin on my way. Smiling, I turned up the radio to some old Russian tunes.

----------------------------------------------

Jack's POV

As suspicious as this man seemed, something told me he was trustworthy. I'm not exactly sure why, but I began to believe it myself.

I studied his face a bit more, noticing every detail. He looked like an older man, 40 something at the most. The man must have smiled a lot, as the corners of his eyes wrinkled when he did so.

I soon found myself taken back to reality by the clicking of the radio.

"You're listening to the wrong station," I mumbled, he just gave me a look of confusion in return, "I think I have something won't be so hard on your ears."

I soon tuned into the 'everything rock' station tapping my fingers to the beat of "Killer Queen."

"What is dis," John asked me, sounding funny due to his accent.

"It's called Rock, to be specific the song's by Queen." I smile, I could feel the mood lightening up already, "I think, well know, you'll find a liking to it."

"Oh, okay." he replied simply, dragging out the y.

It wasn't long before the awkward silence returned. This was going to be a looong trip.

----------------------------------------------

Getting lost to the tune of "I Miss You" I shreeked a little from the vibration of my phone. Well my signal is back.

<(Hey where are you? ~Zack_attack)

I smiled, it was nice to know I had another caring friend in the band.

(Car broke down, hitching a ride.)>

<(0.o since when do you become a prostitute?)

I chuckled at Zack's meaningless joking and shut turn my phone to 'Do not Disturb' to get some shut eye. I'm sure Zack wouldn't get too mad if I didn't reply, he was never one to get upset over stupid things like that.

As the radio sung "we can live like Jack and Sally if we want.." I drifted off into dreamland.
