Thunder rumbled in the distance as flashes of lightning lit up the dark sky. Rain was expected soon. I let out sigh and ran my hand through my jet black hair.
"Miss. Stark it will start raining soon I suggest you come in before that happens"
My head fell in defeat knowing that arguing with the AI system would only be hopeless. I walked into the STARK tower. My dad if you haven't guessed is Tony Stark or better known as Ironman had me moved here for my safety. Which was stupid I loved it in Malibu living near the ocean being able to enjoy the sun in peace. The only noise would be the calming sound of the waves crashed against the shore. I wasn't used to the city life and I didn't think I'd get used to it.In all honestly I was perfectly capable of protecting my self. Dad had made sure I was trained by all the avengers themselves. However that wasn't enough he had a suit made for me and moved me across the country to keep an eye on me.
I was in an unknown city on house arrest with no friends all because my darling father couldn't keep his big mouth shut on camera.
Thunder rumbled again knocking me out my thoughts making me jump at least a foot off the ground. Thunderstorms had always put me on an edge. Even when Thor visited I still couldn't relax during these storms.
I walked into out living room to see something that the Rest of the word probably couldn't imagine. The Avengers all spread across a couch with Hawkeye and Widow on the ground watching Frozen and singing along to Let it go. Seeing this sight put a smile on my face. It wasn't often I got to see my aunts and uncles just relaxing and not having the weight of the world on there shoulders.
I let out a cough apparently it wasn't loud enough only Bruce heard me. I guess Steve was to busy trying to sing with the Snow Queen.
" hey kid what's up" Bruce asked his voice hovering over the noise of the Avengers. I'd be 17 in a week on August 18th but that didn't seem to matter to my family I'd always be a kid for them.
" Do you know where dad is " I asked
"Check the lab he's probably there" frustration took ahold of my body.Every since becoming Ironman dad had spent every minute of his life trying to perfect the suit along the process making many different types of suit and even a suit for me.
Knowing he probably had forgotten to eat I grabbed a plate of dinner for and started walking towards his lab.
Let me tell you one thing about my dad's lab it was amazing. The glass floors allowed you to see some gears that were connect to the Ironman platform where dad took off his suit. Against the back wall the iron man suits glowed in contrast to the black paint in a glass show case. In the middle lay a platform that was used for dad's holographic maps. Computers ran around the platform. My suits on display against the right wall hanging in a glass display just like dad's. One well was a female version of the Ironman suit another was the male version. Dad had both of them hooked to me so I could use any at any time. But let's just say I've never actually gotten to use them.
I finally found dad hunched over a computer screen looking at designs for yet another Ironman Suit. Seriously how many does he need he's got a wall full of them and I'm pretty sure he's got a secret stash somewhere too. He honestly had become a junkie, just instead of smoking a joint he was building more toys.
"Dad please eat" okay okay I know that was very blunt seriously I was getting tired of him acting like a child.
"I told you I'd eat later" please insert an eye roll here
" dad that was two days ago" I set the plate down on of the desks and went up to him giving him a side hug. He let of sigh and hugged back. Ever since the battle of New York he never was the same. I knew he I was hiding something but would just shut me out every time I asked." I'm sorry sweet heart I'll eat i promise" okay there's one thing you should all know about my dad. Yes he's a player and an egotistical jerk but he's never broken a single promise he has made me. Trust me when I say that hearing him say he's promise to eat caused relief to was over me.
"Okay kid how's the electromagnet thing working out" yes dad had installed and electromagnetic in me too. During the Battle of New York I'd made the stupid choice of coming to New York to help and in the process I had some shrapnel work its way into my blood stream now just like my dad it was keeping me alive.
" working pretty great actually but I had a question" at the change of my tone dad raised an eyebrow concern edged his eyes.
" D-dad, I just don't think I want an electromagnetic in me.... And I know what you are gonna say but here me out okay.. I just wanna be normal and being the 17 year old daughter of iron man with an electromagnetic doesn't really help me try and be normal."
Dad didn't say anything he just looked at me and I saw pity. I didn't know why but he had pity in my eyes. Looking at me as if he knew something I didn't. Which he probably did, he knew a lot more then me. I was just Tony Starks average daughter. Never to bright. Not that I was dumb or anything it's just the ADHD and Dyslexia didn't help me do to well in school. Someone with the help of my father of course I was able to finish high school a year early. But it still felt kinda useless I mean I was great at destroying stuff and helping dad build but being able to make something from scratch of come up with my own wiring and designs just wasn't me. Which always made me feel a little bit like an outcast in my own family. Pepper was great at running a company, dad with his suits , Steve with his super strength well you get the point. I'd only managed to do one thing right and that was be a pretty good fighter but I guess that happens when the Earths mightiest Hero's train you.
"Sweetheart.." Dads voice breaking my thoughts " being normal isn't important your safety however is. The electromagnet not only holds your life together but it also allows the suit to work to your command. Until I can figure out how to let that happen without the magnet I can't remove it"
I nodded not wanting to discuss the topic any farther and walked away hearing a faint 'if only she knew' I wanted to ask what he meant but I wasn't really in the mood to argue with him. We didn't argue you much but the few times we did it never ended to well. Sometimes it would be something broken in the lab but other times it was off stuff like all the water pipes bursting in the house. Dad said it was some freak plumbing issue but that was hard to believe.
I walked into the bathroom to cool down. I usually am not a dark or angry person. The last few days though have been weird with the ways dad been acting. The avengers had not noticed it but it was putting me on edge or maybe it was all these thunder storms.
Calming my breathing down my eyes lightened in colour. Sea green eyes that were the complete opposite of my dads brown eyes and my black hair which was way darker then my dad's brown hair. I didn't share much in appearance with my dad other than the electromagnet I'd always assumed I got my looks from my mother who'd I never met. Pepper had always been like my mother I couldn't have been more happy when she started dating my dad.I fell onto my bed and closed my eyes hoping that tomorrow everything would be back to normal.
Little did I know my entire life would flip upside down tomorrow.
