The New Guy
[Jun XX, 20XX] [12:XX pm] [Switching Divisions] [Entering Division 4]
Hi, I'm Dominic Queen. You can call me Dom for short. I'm a Hazmat. You've caught me on a very exciting week. I joined Division 4 a few days ago and have had a big mission every day. And when I say big, I mean HUGE! Day 1: I had to clear out a school filled with Oozers. Day 2: Save the President from being eaten alive. Day 3 (Today): Save Division 3 who are trapped in the science lab. I'm still a rookie and they're sending me on all these important missions.
In each Division, there are four members. I was the replacement for this team. The last guy to have my job was squished to death by the roof of a building collapsing upon him. The rest of my team got out of the building but he wasn't fast enough. When I signed up to be a Hazmat, HQ stuck me with this team. I say stuck because I hate these guys. I'm the 'runt of the litter'. I'm the shortest member so they see me as a weakling. They've told me they don't care if I die, because I'll just get replaced with somebody better. They're jerks. I'll prove my worth to them. I can be just as strong as them.
Right now we're on our way to the science building. This is where Division 3, the Researchers, do all their research. This is where they're trapped. Like I said before, today's mission is a search and rescue. Division 3 were doing some experiments with some of the walkers which ended up reviving the undead. Now the place is infested with walkers and we have to rescue Division 3. We were called to take care of the Oozers that are among the walkers. We need to watch each other's backs.
I stare out the window of the van (Because no one in here is going to talk to me) and see a few mutated flying walkers flying near the science building. Hope those things leave us alone. Suddenly a chopper flies over us. "Oh hey that must be one of the other Divisions coming to help!" I point out. "Shut up twerp. We don't need any of their help." Marcus shoots me down. I don't say anything. Marcus is our team's leader. I hate him so much. Suddenly I hear gunshots and look out the window instantly. "Those flying things are attacking the chopper!" I point out. "Who cares, they'll take care of it." Jerome replies. None of these guys' care about anyone else but themselves.
My eye catches sight of an odd looking one. "Hey that one is glowing green..." I mumble to myself, "kind of like... oh crap!" I press my hands on the glass. I watch as the glowing one spits out acid onto the helicopters propellers. The acid eats up the propellers and the chopper falls right out of the sky and crash lands a couple hundred feet from us. "Stop the van!" I shout out as the helicopter catches fire. Freddy stops the van by the crash. "Shit" he says annoyed. "We need to help them!" I kick the back doors open and run to the crash with my gun in hand. "Get back here twerp! You can't do anything right!" I hear Marcus shout to me, I ignore him. "Cover me!" I shout, pointing to the mutants in the sky.
I arrive at the downed chopper and look for survivors. All I see is debris and two bodies. Oh no. I check the two bodies I see. They're dead. I go inside to check to see if the pilot is alive. "Oh shit..." The pilot has been impaled with a long sharp rod. No survivors... I jump out the chopper, only to hear a cough and an injured voice say "You just gonna leave me here?" I turn around and see a very familiar face. "You... You were at the battle to save the President!" I rush over to him. "The name's Garcia. Thomas Garcia." He chokes out. "Are you ok? Are you injured?" I question him. "Only slightly." He mutters out as he holds his bloody abdomen. "Shit... You're bleeding!" "Yeah, I know." "Here, take my hand!" I offer my hand and he accepts. I pull him up and wrap his arm around me shoulder. He grunts in pain. "S-sorry..." I stutter, "Let's go!"
I help him out of the chopper and see Marcus, Jerome, and Freddy shooting the mutants out of the sky. "I got him! Let's go!" They help me pull Thomas into the back of the van and we drive off to the science building. "We need to stop the bleeding!" I shout out. I cut off his tactical vest (thing was already ripped to shreds) and lift up his tank top. I try to clean it up as best I could. I'm not a medic by the way. I then wrap the wound up with some white bandages we had in a first aid kit. "T-that should hold for now. How do you feel?" I stutter. "Like I have a giant rip in my stomach." He replies sarcastically. The van stops. Freddy speaks up, "We're here."
