Recap:

"Alex, we can't support something that's not logical."

That sentence shut down everything. I turned to go to my room. I couldn't even be around my parents right now. I had tried to get them to understand what I wanted me future to be like, but they obviously ignored that. If they weren't going to support me then I didn't need them. They could just keep pretending that they had their dream children. News flash. You don't always get what you want.

I knew I might not get my dream job, but I could work damn hard so I did.

Before I left and I turned and said, "Dreams don't have to be logical."

Chapter Twenty One ~ Liam

Medical school? That's all I could think about on my way back from Alex's house. I wondered why Alex never brought this subject up before. I mean, her parents set up an interview with a school. They even talked about it like everyone knew exactly what Alex's future was going to be.

Were we stopping Alex from doing something important by asking her to tour with us? If so, she could have just told us. All of us would have understood.

But here I go again making assumptions. Alex didn't seem too thrilled when she found out what was going on. Maybe she didn't want to go to medical school and she accepted the tour because she really wanted to.

I knew I couldn't be sure until I asked her, but I didn't want to talk about it now. I would wait until I felt I had given Al enough space. I had spent almost the whole day with her and I didn't want to seem like a clingy friend. I would wait a few days to bring to up. Besides, I'm sure this is something Al doesn't really want to talk about.

The next few days were busy for the band anyway. I'm sure my mind would be kept occupied. When I got to my complex I parked my car and headed upstairs. Instead of heading for my own flat, I headed to Zayn's. I knocked and waited for Zayn to answer, but Kari answered.

"Liam! Just the person I wanted to talk to!' Kari exclaimed. She took hold of my hand and lead me to the small living area where Harry and Zayn were in a deep conversation. Our movement caused them to look up at me.

"Liam! The person all of us wanted to see," Harry said smirking.

"And why is that?" I casually asked as I sat down alongside Zayn.

"Where were just now?" Kari asked.

"I was with Alex," I responded truthfully.

"But you were just with Alex," Zayn spoke for the first time.

"I know. Something just happened and I needed to be there," I explained and shrugged.

"What happened?" Kari asked.

"Something. It's not my place to tell you," I said seriously.

"Oh, okay," Harry hesitated.

A silence fell over the room as I waited for someone to say something. It was them who wanted to talk to me so I wasn't start anything. I waited until finally Zayn spoke up.

"That was nice of you."

"Thanks."

"So you like her, right?" Kari asked.

Any other time I would have said no right away. I never expected to like Alex and her rebel image. But after today especially, I knew Alex wasn't a rebel underneath that charade. I even felt weird when she kissed me on the cheek. I knew I was falling for her. I just didn't know if I wanted everyone to know.
