Twilight Sparkle and her friends were on their way to the Crystal Empire to see Princess Cadence, Shining Armor, and little Flurry Heart. Cadence had sent a letter to Twilight about a mysterious guest arriving at the castle a few weeks ago.
When they arrived, Twilight noticed that the Empire seemed to be much bigger and more spectacular than it had ever been before. The sky was as blue as ever. The crystals glistened everywhere they walked, and there were more ponies, some Twilight had never seen before. These ponies were only shades of blue and white and seemed to glisten like snow and ice.
As they got closer to the castle, Rarity was the first to realize that something was different with the Crystal Heart.
"Does anyone see that snowflake carved into the Crystal Heart?" Rarity asked.
"Ya." AppleJack replied, "It's nice though, ain't it?"
"This might be why the Empire looks so much bigger and why there seem to be so many more ponies!" Twilight observed.
"Twily!" Came a familiar voice.
"Shining Armor!" Twilight exclaimed as she gave her big brother a hug. "What's going on? Why does the Empire look so big? Why are there new ponies? Why is there a snowflake carved into the crystal heart?!"
"I don't know the answers yet, but in Cadence's letter, she wrote about a special guest, I think that guest has the answers your looking for. She's in the castle, come on! I'll take you to her."
