I wake up and find myself in the infirmary again. There are bright lights shining on me and people are staring at me. Well more at my stomach. I want to cover myself with my arms but as soon as I move an unbearable pain washes over me and I scream. The nurses all look at me until one of them realize that I'm awake.
"She's awake! I need someone to put her under again! Fast hurry!" He, at least I think it's a he, yells.
In the next moment there a mask being put over my mouth and my body goes numb.
When my eyes open for the next time, I am no longer surrounded by people. Instead only one person watches me. It's Doctor Ashlar. I try to sit up when I feel him push my shoulders back down forcing me to lie down. He looks at the file that's next to him and makes a few notes. He then closes the file and turns to me.
"I'm going to take your blood pressures do check your heart beat, then I'll tell you what happened, okay?" He asks, but in the way where you can tell it's not really a question, but something he is telling me he is going to do.
He takes my blood pressure then makes a note in the file. Then he puts one end of his stethoscope in his ears and the other on my chest. It's fine at first but when he goes closer to my stomach and asks me to take a deep breath, it burns. He shines a bright light into my eyes and then he makes another note in his file. My curiosity is starting to get the better of me. I want to know why I'm here and why I'm in so much pain. He finishes his note then lifted up the bottom of shirt to expose my stomach. He carefully takes a bandage off from where my stitches are from when I had the surgery after my final exam. He cleans something off(which I figure out later is blood) then puts a new bandage on. He then turns to face me.
"You are very lucky that Katrina found you. I have never seen someone have that sever of a reaction to the procedure you had. " I try to say something but he cuts me off. " I promise I'll explain what happened in a second, but first I want you to tell me how much pain you are in, from a scale of one to ten, one being absolutely no pain and ten being excruciating. I need you to be completely honest."
I nod then say an eight. He fiddles with the IV that is hooked into my arm.
"I'm going to tell you what happened to the best of my abilities. Somehow your stitches tore open from your previous surgery earlier in the day. It started bleeding mildly but as all the stitches fell into your body causing an infection the the cut wear the stitches were keeping closed got bigger and bigger until it reached about 13 cm long. I think that it may have tore into a really long cut quickly so you started to bleed out losing quite a bit of blood which made you fall unconscious. We gave you a blood transfusion and started surgery on you immediately. Unfortunately you woke up around 1/3 of the way through while we were cleaning out the wound and infection which is quite painful and made you shriek and thrash in pain which made the gash a little bigger. We then made you fall unconscious so we could finish and it went pretty smoothly after that." He stops and takes a breath while making sure I'm alright. Then he continues on. "You are going to stay in the infirmary for at least 2 days, probably more. We need to make sure you are alright. We can't afford another reaction like that."
He stops and looks at me once again. I nod to show that I understand. He checks the new stitches to make sure I'm not bleeding then leaves the room. Not even five minutes later a nurse comes in and watches me. She must sense how bored I am because she goes grabs my phone and puts it beside me so I can play games or watch a movie or something. I gladly take it and get lost listening to music.
