Bittersweet *What we used to be*

Joichiro never graduated. He refused to.. When ever I brought up the topic, His eyes became hard and he cuts me off. Its been years since we left Totsuki.. We haven't really left it though.. I work at the polar star dormitory to help Fumio-san with all the new students when ever I have time....  

I opened a family restaurant after I graduated and while Joichiro travels around Japan to learn more about cooking.. He really is a cooking obsessed but that's who I fell in love with and this shop, It's our home. It's the place I made for him to come home to..

But he's been, distant. He's sat me down right now.. He looks completely serious. Unlike any think I've ever seen.

" Nikita I need to tell you something alright. Just hear me out until I finish.. then you can yell at me as much as you want.. You can even hate me.. But just listen.. " The conversation is starting to sound like one of those, ' I cheated on you ' movies.

" Nikita, I love you with all my heart and soul.. That's why I married you.. Because I don't think I could be this happy without you.  Do you remember that teacher from our first class together?" He asked as I nodded..

"I've put you in a lot of danger..  "  He hugged me.. " That woman.. She's the daughter of the Yakuza.. A princess.. She came up to me today. She wanted me to marry her daughter. "  I stopped.

" What?" He gripped my arms looking me in the eyes.. " I told her no.. She's been asking me since years ago.. I though she gave up but she came to me again yesterday and threatened me. Nikita.. I want to protect you. So I'm going to leave.. I'm going to leave and disappear for a couple years.. Let everything sort it's self out.. I'm going to travel the world.. Do what I love.. I want to go around the world with you. " He explained hugging me..

Tears came to my eyes.. I hugged him.. I cant.. I cant go with him. I cant.

" Joichiro I cant go with you.. " He stopped to stare at me..

" What why? " He asked shocked. " We can explore the world, go to all those cities you dreamed of going, we wont be tied down by anything. " He explained but I can see worry in his eyes.

" Joichiro.. That sounds like so much fun..  It would be amazing with jus the 2 of us.. but I'm a few months, it would be just the 2 of us.. We cant constantly travel around with a baby.. " I explained with tears in my eyes.

He was frozen in his spot. A smile spread across his face. He lifted me into his arms spinning me around. " Your going to have a baby!" He yelled then crouched close to my stomach and kissed it.. I cant help but smile. but a frown makes it's way to my face instead. if it was just me in danger, I could have dealt with it. but a baby.

" I think of something. I think of something.. I'll protect the both of you.. I promise. " I never noticed that he was watching me.

Months later, my baby was born..  Joichiro never explained to me what he was going to do, but once Soma finished breast feeding, Joichiro suddenly packed his things and grabbed Soma making his way towards me..

" Joichiro.. Where are you going with Soma?" He smiled at me sadly leading me into the bed room. He slowly sat on the bed and looked at me.. He hugged me..

" I wont be able to see you for so long.. I know.. I know this is going to hurt you.. It's going to make you hate me.. But we'll be back.. I promise I'll bring your son back to you.. I promise. "

" Don't leave Joichiro.. Stay here.. we'll think of another way.. " I pleaded but he shook his head.

Shocked I couldn't move.. He stood up and walked out the room.. He closed the door and I heard him lock it from the outside..  I screamed banging my hands against the door..

" Don't Leave!!!"

I ran to the window.. He dragged a suit case behind him and soma in his arms.

"You said that you would protect me no matter what!!!!! Even if everyone one else, the whole world, is my enemy, You said you would protect me and hide me in your arms!!! So why!!! " I banged on the window.

He looked back and I could see his tears. I can see Soma's sleeping face. More tears rushed down my face..

" BRING HIM BACK!! GIVE ME BACK MY BABY!!! JOICHIRO!!!"

" BRING HIM BACK!!!!" I screamed falling to the floor.

" don't leave me.." I whispered as I cried on the floor.

I just sat there for hour.. I didn't even look up as the door to the room opened..

" Nikita.. Come on.. He arranged for you to live at the dorms.. To work at Totsuki. Jun is working there.. You wont be alone there.. I don't...He doenst want you to be alone. "

I looked up to see Gin looking down at me.. In his suit he looked professional. Nothing like the boy from high school.   He held his hand out for me to take.. He pulled me into a hug.

" He just want to protect you.. "

I let Gin lead to where it all began..

All the way back to the polar star dormitory
