I'm awake.
I quickly collect myself, wiping the dry tears that had fallen from my eyes minutes ago, without me knowing.
I turn the alarm off and pop two of my anti-depressant pills.
I start college in a couple of days, therefore, I need money to pay for it, obviously. But, I wasn't accepted at any job, because I'm apparently too "depressed" to care about work right now.
My family has problems with money, and I obviously do not speak to my mother, which has millions of dollars under her belt. But, I could care less about her money after the hell she has put me through, the past sixteen and a half years of my life. And, I'd rather work twenty-four hours every day nonstop to gain some money than to ask for a dime from her.
She constantly apologizes for what she did to me, but you can't forgive the unforgivable. I've already forgiven way too many people that didn't deserve to be forgiven, and I'm not about to do the same mistake one more time.
I wet my toothbrush and continue brushing my teeth.
I glance at my face in the mirror. I gasp.
"Damn it, I forgot about this." I whisper to myself.
I still get terrified for a split second whenever I see it.
Then... I remember.
"Stop it! Please, you can have all the money. Just leave me alone. Leave!" I kept screaming at the top of my lungs but no one cared.
The street was empty, and dark. No one came for my rescue.
"Someone please help me! Hel- "
Before I could finish, the masked man aggressively pressed his hand on my mouth.
"Shh, shh, baby. It's gonna be okay. I'm not here to steal your money. I'm here for you, your body, and those plump sexy lips. Fuck, you get me so hard, mami." He said with his very obviously fake Spanish accent, his face getting closer and closer to mine. I could even smell his stinky ass breath through his black cotton mask.
I couldn't believe what was going to happen. And I was not going to let it happen.
I quickly push him as hard as I can, managing to punch him a couple of times. I start running as fast as I can before he could catch me, or I thought he wouldn't.
I thought I escaped, and that I was safe, until, the middle aged man pressed me hardly against the wall.
"Don't you fucking dare do that again, you fucking bitch!" He screamed in my face. Taking a knife out of his vest pocket and cutting me across my left cheek, literally slicing it open.
Fuck.
I wipe the single tear that managed to escape my eye and head over to my room to pick out my outfit.
I'm seeing Savannah for the first time in two years. She's the best person that I have, after my dad. She has always been there for me, she's a great listener and adviser, and I honestly wouldn't wish for a better sister. Unlike Amber.
I enter the coffeehouse Savannah and I agreed to meet at and I immediately recognize her blond locks from a few feet away. She was seated at a small round table, reading through the menu with close precision.
"Sav!" I shout out to her.
Her eyes fly up the moment she hears my voice, a wide honest smile drawn on her lips.
"Val! Babe!" She jumps up her seat and open her arms for me, I respond with the tightest hug I ever gave to someone.
"I missed you so fucking much, Savannah, you don't even know." I say, not breaking our hug.
After a minute or so, we break the hug and sit on our seats.
"So.." Savannah said while she moved away the hair that fell on her pretty face. "How are you doing?"
"I'm doing better since the day i moved out." I smiled. "No more fights, as you know."
"You've some balls, sis. Considering you moving at such a young age." She puts her hand on mine, squeezing it lightly.
"Yeah.. Also, college is about to start, therefore, I have to find a job so that I can pay for it."
"Val, I can help you a bit with the payment, I offered-"
"No." I say, interrupting her. I sigh. "Thank you so much for that but I'll be fine on my own, I can rely on myself."
"I'm always up for it, in case you change your mind." A cute dimpled smile showing across her face.
"Thank you, Sis. " I couldn't help the smile appearing on my face.
"So, are you interested in anyone, at the time?" Savannah asked, winking at me.
I hit her shoulder playfully.
"Nahhh. Not yet. After that asshole dated Britney, only two days after our break up, I lost hope for all boys, I feel like I don't even like them."
"Wait, what? Are you, like, a, ahem, a lesb-" Her eyes widened and a loud laugh escaped my mouth.
"No, no, no." I shook my head. " I'm straight, Savannah, what the fuck?" I laughed even louder.
The rest of the conversation went on so quick, random talks, the everything yet nothing type of convos.
We spent almost 3 hours together. But, it wasn't enough for me, and I needed to spend more time with her, as soon as possible. She is my best friend ever and being away from her is literally heartbreaking.
I'm walking down an empty street, rain falling, making a quiet sound as the drops fell on the wet dark ground, wetting my favorite coat, on it's way down.
I hurry to my lonely apartment, lazily opening the door and throwing my keys on the table, my handbag followed by my wet coat. I walk quickly to my room, collapsing on the bed, I'm exhausted.
