I paced back and forth, emotions running mostly worry and guilt coursing through my veins. My mind coming up with a million possibilities of what could have caused this to happen for I thought that I had covered my tracks more carefully than that originally happened. The Agents stared at me, confused with what's going on since I've gotten off the phone call from the Headmaster himself. The message still lingers in my mind,"I know you and Jonathan have been currently been busy so I'll be quick.Let him know that I've been watching the little stunts you've been pulling with him on the sidelines helping out..... I hope you told him what he was in stored for."
Cursing at myself silently for not being one step ahead of him, I threw the phone in anger, seeing it smash against the wall made me feel better with all the pieces scattered around until my stomach dropped when I realized what I just did, I just eliminated a way to contact John and warning him of the target that's been painted on his back. I ran to the destroyed phone hoping if I connected the pieces together it'd still work and I can prevent anything else from coming to life. I scrambled to my knees picking up the pieces, cutting myself on the sharp edges though it's wasn't enough to stop me from trying. A warm wet feeling was starting to slide down my face and when it reached my mouth it tasted salty, Is it raining?
Someone grabbed my shoulders causing to drop all the work I've done with the shattered phone go down in ruins. How dare they....I thought they cared...about..me.
"Storm snap out of it! The phone is broken and you can't fix it. Get off the ground!" Diana screamed despaired while shaking me.
"I have to fix it please...I need to fix it...John...God not John not him." I sputtered out before crumbling down on myself. The only sounds you could hear were my sobs of defeat.
"Storm? What did he say? Please we can help." Chara kneeled next to me trying to comfort me. But I was numb to his words, only one person can snap me out.
"Daniel go and see if we have another phone around here, we need to see if we can transfer the data from the one Storm has." Dexter asked a plan forming in his head. He turned towards me, looking a bit unsure of himself.
"Storm we need to know what happened and to be honest we need our leader to help us out." Dexter said shrugging his shoulders while trying to put on a kind smile.
My cries were my only reply back. My hope was in shambles. I recall my last conversation with John... Oh how he thought that I was the one to die but now look at life, now trying to put out my last bit of light.
"I found one, are you sure it's going to work? It'll take a miracle." Daniel questioned when he ran back.
A glanced from Chara quickly assured him."It won't take long, after all the memory chip is still in good shape." Chara commented.
While they worked on tinkering with the phones, Diana took it upon herself to try and silence my cries of angst. I practically cried my very soul out.
"Done." Chara announced showing off the phone that now held answer to my prayers. The rest of them were too busy trying to come up with a solution to my tears that they didn't notice me getting up and lunged for the phone.
They jumped back in shock, but didn't say anything. They watched as I scrolled through the contacts and dial up a number. I held a death grip on it while it rang in my ear, I made a last minute decision to put it on speaker so the Agents may know my little secret.
John please pick up....please.
One ring..... No answer
Two rings.... No answer yet
Three rings... No answer still
Four rings.... click
"Hello? Who's this?"
I nearly cried when I heard him, for I thought I was too late and they've gotten already.
"John...it's me." I barely got out, my tears were suffocating me.
"Ben? God you sound horrible, what happened? Come on man speak." John questioned his voice getting high with worry.
"They know....god I'm sorry but they know." I gasped before covering my mouth in defeat.
"They know what? Who are they? Ben please speak to me. I know that it's weighing pretty heavy on you." John pleaded.
"The damn Agency knows....that bastard." I spoke through clenched teeth. How dare they hurt someone that only cared about helping.
"Charles? That old bastard he always had it out for after what happened....what does he know?" John asked, not knowing the true cause of the call.
I had to breathe in a couple of times before it came out,
"They know that you.....you were involved in what I was doing to the Agency.....they might kill you John." I managed to get out."......Then I guess it's time for your little Agents to finally get to met me uh?" John said.
"I guess so John......please stay safe...they might know your precise location." I spoke, the tears finally slowing down.
"I will, what type of gun dealer am I if I don't know how to use a gun myself?" John chuckled before becoming silent. "I better get ready soon then, never know when they're going to strike.....talk to you when I get there."
A click was heard when John hanged up, leaving the room in silence.
"I guess you did make a friend when you left." Dexter said outloud, earning a slap upside the head from Diana.
I chuckled
"Friends are nice to have, but people may want to harm them. So you have to be very careful or else they may no longer be able to be your friend."
