Chapter 4: The darkness takes over

"Giovanni," a blonde haired girl said as she walked into the room.

"Yes Domino speak," the leader of Team Rocket responded, distracted by the stack of reports he was reading over.

"Jesse, James, and Meowth have returned," Domino explained.

"Is this your reasoning to interrupt me during my study? You know that this type of thing has no importance to me," Giovanni replied.

"Well I completely agree in every other scenario," Domino began to explain, "but you see the thing is, they recruited a new member for Team Rocket," Domino alleged.

Giovanni started to get angry, "Anyone one who was able to convinced to join Team Rocket by those idiots couldn't possibly be of use to me, why not just send him to the training facility instead of wasting my time?"

"Giovanni trust me, you won't be disappointed. Just give this guy a chance," she pleaded.

Visibly annoyed he rubbed his temple, "Fine just send them in then, but if it's anything less than a Pokemon champion then it's on your head!"

Domino giggled, giddy with anticipation, "Well it's not exactly a champion but it's damn near close. Alright guys come on in!"

Hearing their cue the trio busted through the door with the new recruit following behind. Giovanni was already tired of this spectacle, but the boy who's face was covered by his hat caught his interest.

"Show some respect you little brat and take off that hat, just who the hell are you?"

Not wanting to disappoint, the new recruit slowly lifted his hand to the bill of the hat and in one swift motion revealed his true identity. Giovanni was left speechless, his ability to form a complete sentence gone.

"Unbelievable...you're A-" Giovanni was going to say until he was interrupted.

"Don't call me by that name, that part of me is dead," Ash abruptly and coldly spoke, looking directly at Giovanni.

'His eyes, they're so full of hate,' Giovanni thought, "So mister goody two shoes here wants to join Team Rocket?"

"I'm here, aren't I," Ash quickly responded.

"Pika," Pikachu shower his support.

"Now why do I get the feeling that this is just one of your tricks, to take down Team Rocket from the inside. As I recall you have been a nuisance to my organization in the past," Giovanni said.

"Lets us explain," James spoke up.

James, Jesse, and Meowth told the story of what happened to Ash while he stood outside, not wanting to relive those painful memories.

"Okay, you can come in now," Jesse called out, having finished explaining everything.

Ash said nothing as he re-entered the room, the shock of betrayal still flowing through his body.

"So I've been made aware of this situation you've seen to have befallen into. Because of that I am willing to make an exception, you're free to join Team Rocket, but only as a grunt. You have to work your way up, you won't be given any special treatment," Giovanni explained.

"I didn't expect any," Ash responded.

"But first, we must stage your death. The absolute last thing we need is bring more attention to Team Rocket and exposing ourselves in any way shape or form." He turned to Domino, "Get one of those useless grunts and 'accidentally' burn him to a crisp with your Arcanine. Then once that's done, start a fire in the woods and put the body in the middle of it all along with his hat and a deceased Pikachu, it'll be so charred by that point that they won't even be able to recognize him. Make sure to do all this in the general vicinity of where the incident occurred and they'll most definitely buy it." Giovanni ordered.
