Missing.
It’s the one word that sends chills down parent’s spines. It’s the one word that forever changes people’s lives. It’s what haunts parent’s nightmares. It’s what can happen to anyone. Unfortunately, I realized that too late.
I thought it would never happen to me. I thought only girls that went walking out late at night went missing. I guess I thought I wrong.
The media called them The Deadly Four. They had been kidnapping girls for over two years now, and the police still had no clue to who they were. They were dangerously smart and skillful. They left no trace behind. The only reason they were well known in the country was because of their kidnapping tactic. They would only kidnap teenage girls, and return them back to the area they were first kidnapped from three days later with a red four written on their hand with a permanent marker. What confused the police even more was that the girls kidnapped would have no memory about the kidnapping. It was like they had never even been kidnapped.
They could be anyone, and that’s what scared the public most. The kidnappings stopped when Lena Winters was kidnapped. She was never returned three days later. She was never seen again.
