Chapter 1: history

(Lucy pov) 

"NATSUU!!" I scream as a large, gritty hand picks me up, off the ground. His eyes are big and shocked red as he stares at my helpless self. This is the end isn't it...The Titan was approximately 20 meters tall, dyed a dull pink, rotten teeth, but delicate blood shot eyes. He almost looked sympathetic as he as a dropped me into his mouth and...CHOMP.

(10 HOURS AGO)

"EVERYBODY UP. OUR NEXT MISSION IS 7 HOURS FROM NOW."

I could hear the captain yelling down the hall, ordering the survey Corps to prepare for our next mission. We slept in rooms with 2 bunk beds, one with Natsu and I, the other, Gajeel and Levy. I moaned as I slipped out of bed to get dressed. "Levy-chan get up..mission time..." I sounded sluggish as I pulled her out of bed where she only fell to the ground. She looked up at me with a 'I'm gonna kill you face' as she stood up. 

"You know there are better ways to wake me up right??" She was angry, but that's the kinda energy we need on a mission day. Over 140 of our troops died last time. We have to keep our senses sharp or we pay the baring price. In the survey corps, its highly recommended to keep relationships out of the way because we could get others killed, but Levy and I didn't listen. Natsu and I work better together, so it's a win-win. Levy was with Gajeel, happier than ever. Once everyone was awake, we all shuffled out feet towards the cabin where we would swiftly eat our breakfast.

 "I hope this mission goes well this time..." I was leaning on my right palm, not any more awake than an hour ago. Natsu pushes my right arm, causing it to give out, and I hit my head on the table. "Natsu, not today; the last thing I need is to be distracted by your childish nonsense." I pout as he laughs. 

"Everyone meet at the town gate in 10 minutes!" The captain shouts. Looks like we're getting ready to head out.

 "Luce." Natsu looks at me with his signature grin and continues. "I love you...please don't die on me today." I could almost see the fear in his eyes. That's the downside to relationships within the survey corps. If I lose Natsu, it'll be unbearable.

 I gaze up at him, meeting his eyes. "I promise. I won't go down easy Natsu. I'm not ready to leave you." I place my fragile hands on his cheeks, practically forcing him to meet my gaze. We keep up the gazing until Levy calls out to us. 

"Lucy, Natsu! We need to go! It'll be fine!" She exclaims this as if it were already true, reassuring the both of us as we walk over to her. "Don't worry you guys, I promise, we're all gonna make it." She shoots us a smile as we walk out of the hall doors, facing the stinging rays of the sun. We can do this. I know we will...
