"So, you actually talk to him?" Louis questioned as we walked home.

I nodded my head. "He didn't push me away or anything." I smiled at the memory.

"Wow." Louis said. I was surprise as well. I had managed to talk to my long term crush and not make a fool of myself.

"I know." We walked in silence until we arrived at his house.

"Do you want to come in? Lawrence is home." Lawrence was Louis step-dad. And Louis hated his step-dad. They would always argue over simple things, which would turn into screaming matches. Louis being Louis was too stubborn to back down. "Please, I don't want to be alone with him."

"Louis, I can't..."  He wouldn't take no for an answer. He hit me with those puppy dog eyes, and I couldn't say no. "Fineeeeee."

He clapped his hands and cheered. "Yay." We stepped into the humble home. I could heard the TV going off in the den and a deep laugh.

We made our way to the kitchen and Louis conjured us up some snacks.

"Hello, boys." Lawrence greeted us. Louis mumbled a hello while I just waved. "How was school?"

"It was alright." I answered. But Louis remained quiet.

"Lewis?" I knew Lawrence called him that to piss him off and it was working. I caressed his leg then grasped his hand.

"It was fine." Louis said without looking up.

Lawrence frowned in disappointment, see as he didn't get up the boy's skin. "You're mom's going to be home at seven. We're going out for a family dinner." He smirked.

Louis hated family dinners, mostly because Lawrence came along. He wasn't considered family.

"Can I bring Niall?" I wanted to protest, but the look on the precious boy's face made me silent.

"What part about family dinner do you not understand?" The man sneered.

"The part where you come in because you aren't family." Louis shot back.

"Oh, Louis," He chuckled. "I am family and always will be."

"You aren't family to me." He sounded like he was about to burst into tears.

"No-one cares about your opinion, Louis. You're mother loves me, you're sisters love me. I'm here to stay." He laughed and walked out of the kitchen.

"I hate him so much." The petite boy whispered. I could hear the tears in his voice. Being the good friend I am, I wrapped my arms around him and told him the let it go.

Tears fell like a waterfall. He started hiccupping and breathing hard.

"Oh, Lou. Let it all out." I led him up to his room and we sat on the bed. He climbed into my lap and rested his head on my chest. I laid back against the headboard, making it more comfortable for the both of us.

"He's ruining everything." Louis said in between cries. I shushed him and rocked him back and forth. "Can you sing to me?" He asked, looking at me through his long eyelashes.

I silently nodded. "Any request?"

He shook his head.

I was scared of dentists and the dark
I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations
Oh, all my friends are turning green
You're the magician's assistant in their dream

Oh, oh, and they come unstuck

Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you're singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat 'cause
You're gonna sing the words wrong

There's this movie that I think you'll like
This guy decides to quit his job and heads to New York City
This cowboy's running from himself
And she's been living on the highest shelf

Oh, oh, and they come unstuck

Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you're singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat 'cause
You're gonna sing the words wrong

I just wanna, I just wanna know
If you're gonna, if you're gonna stay
I just gotta, I just gotta know
I can't have it, I can't have it any other way
I swear she's destined for the screen
Closest thing to Michelle Pfeiffer that you've ever seen, oh

Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you're singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat 'cause
You're gonna sing the words wrong

Oh Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you're singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat 'cause
You're gonna sing the words wrong

Oh lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you're singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat 'cause
You're gonna sing the words wrong
And I got a lump in my throat 'cause
You're gonna sing the words wrong

By the time finished the song, he was fast asleep. I gently placed him beside me and got off of the bed. I pulled the covers over him, gave him a kiss on the forehead, and then left the room.

I left the house and walked home to my own. On the walk, I heard screaming and crying.

"Please, no. I'm sorry. It won't happen again." As I got closer, I could see a man towering over a boy with black hair.

Is that Zayn?

"You bet I won't, not after I'm done with you." The man picked the boy up by his hair and dragged him into the house.

After a bit more screaming, it went quiet. I was still wondering if the boy was the beautiful one from school. That would explain the bruise.

I heard a knock and looked up. It was Zayn, holding a sign. The sign read Help Me.
