Chapter 1
My eighteenth birthday was coming up in about roughly two months. I was excited for it because hopefully I would find my mate. If I didn't find him, I would be stuck with my father. I will not take beatings anymore. My life isn't very interesting so I have to make it so. I would climb out of my window during the day and go over to where the warriors trained. I would study the one I wanted to fight and then I would jump in and ask if I could fight him.
Of course, he said yes thinking he would win if he went easy. With them thinking this, they got beaten pretty quickly. Then they wouldn't know what to do because a girl had just beaten them. I had also learned from my mistakes. Sometimes the head warrior would ask my father if I could fight along with them and of course my father would say no and take me back into the house and scold me and then hit me.
Does making me unable to shift really make me an abomination? I didn't know why it was so bad. It just meant that I couldn't shit. I still have a wolf.
Annabelle's birthday had passed already and she hadn't found her mate. But I knew she would. She would leave me because she had no other choice, and then I'd be alone to fair on my own with my father.
One early morning I had taken a beating that was worse then any of them, I had, had enough. That evening I decided, I'm running away. I didn't bring anything with me. I just opened my window and climbed down into the backyard. I ran into the woods. The icy wind blowing through my hair and my feet sinking into the soft snow as I ran. I felt, free.
I hadn't felt this way ever. I wanted to feel it more often.
I heard a twig snap behind me. I whirled around to be met by my father's angry face standing in front of me. My eyes widened as my eyes began to fill with tears. He must have been out on his run.
"D-Dad let me explain..." I said with a shaky voice.
"Explain what?!" He yelled and I flinched. "What are you doing out here?"
"Taking a run." I told him.
"You aren't aloud out of the house at night." His angry tone coming out.
"I know dad but..."
"No but's!" He yelled.
"Come here!" He said and grabbed my arm roughly.
Tears fell down my face and froze to my cheeks. We entered back into the house and he threw my forwards and I fell to the ground.
"I'll just go back up to my room..." I said.
"No. You wont." He said. "You will follow me."
"Where?" I asked.
"The dungeons." He stated.
"But those are for criminals."
"Yep. And you disobeyed. Plus. That's where you disserve to be until you figure out how to shift." He said.
"But dad! I can't shift!"
"You will shift one of these days! I will force it out of you!" He yelled and grabbed me again.
