I FOUND IT incredibly difficult to drive while the two boys were arguing in the back seat. One moment they were snapping at each other about whose fault it was that they were all in danger - Jason of course being a little bit of a jerk to Louis about his choice of planet to land on.

"Well excuse me," Louis had sassed back at one point, "but it's not as if I had been given much of a choice!"

"Yeah, well couldn't you have just left our planet alone and never bothered on chasing this crazy dream of interacting with humans in the first place?" Jason returned, his voice raised. 

"Well clearly it wasn't a crazy dream as I'm sat here with two humans, one of which is most irritating!" He paused for a moment and laid a gentle hand on my shoulder. "Not you, Flora."

"No, I got that one," I promised as I swerved the car onto the empty road. Glancing down at the time, I could hardly believe it was already nearing one in the morning. Then all of a sudden my eyes began to droop, as if they were aware of how tired I actually was. It had been a crazy day, full of unexpected kidnappings and betrayals, almost like one of those crime shows. But this was the crime of all crimes. I pulled the car over as my vision blurred slightly. "Jason, I need you to drive," I said. 

"You alright?" he asked, leaning between the two front seats to look me in the eye. "Holy crap, I forgot you'd been drinking earlier."

"Yeah, and kidnapped and experimented on and then forced to jump out a window," I added, grinning at him. He just chuckled and rolled his eyes before getting out of the car and moving to the driver's side to help me into the back. My legs almost gave out under me and I fell forward into his arms. Thank God he was pretty strong or else he'd have been dragging me into the seat. As soon as I felt the cold seat beneath me, another pair of hands rested on my shoulders and helped me lay down on my side. "Thanks boys," I mumbled.

"You're welcome," the pair of them said at the same time. I glanced up to see them scowl at each other momentarily before Jason jumped into he driver's seat and started the car. We were soon off again, winding down the dark roads to the edge of the town. Minutes seemed like hours and I found myself wondering how it seemed to take as long to leave such a tiny town. Only then did I realise my head was resting in Louis' lap and his fingers were carefully combing through my knotted hair. It's hopeless, I wanted to tell him, once that baby's knotted, there ain't no helping her. But he didn't seem put off by the nest on my head, working away in silence until one side of my head was less-nest-like.
