If you had cared to open the Split Legacy newspaper on November 2, 1998, you might have read the obituary on the back page. If you, in fact, read it, you would know that a 14-year-old girl named Zoe Haber had been found dead in her bed the morning before, without any apparent cause of death. She had been perfectly healthy except for the fact that she was, of course, dead. The circumstances were mysterious enough to keep you reading, but, I would guess that when you put the newspaper down, ready to begin your day, Zoe Haber turned into just another piece of gossip to talk about at the dinner table. After all, too many weird stuff had happened in Split that week to concern yourself over some random girl’s death. Give it a week and I doubt that you even remembered a Zoe Haber had ever lived in Split, Ohio. Only two people know what happened to Zoe the week before she died, and one of them, Wendy Oswin, is now currently in a padded room at the Athens Asylum for the Insane. Even then, only I know the whole truth. Would you like to hear it?
