Imogen could hear the rain before she felt it.

And just as she was about to ask if Reese had packed an umbrella, the sky decided to empty all of its contents on the earth below.

Needless to say, Imogen was soaked within seconds.

She glared up at the sky accusingly and the rain pelted harder, as if mocking her.

"Well shit. Reese, we should-"

She turned, only too find him swinging his arms frantically and yelling. Through the deafening rain, she couldn't hear most of what he was saying but she could just catch a few words: "...Gods...so doomed...hate rain...gonna die..."

If Imogen wasn't soaked to the bone, she'd be laughing. Instead she could only stare.

Reese turned to face her, panting heavily, his shirt sticking to his chest and his hair dripping. He glared, and Imogen raised an eyebrow.

Reese began to march towards her with purpose, a truly terrifying stride, until his foot slid on the wet grass and had him falling backwards on his butt into a particularly large puddle.

This time, Imogen couldn't hold in the laughter.

Little did she know, however, Reese had crawled over to where she stood, clutching her sides.

And with one swift pull, Imogen had joined Reese on the wet ground.

Her laughter abruptly stopped, she pushed herself up to lock eyes with Reese.

She blinked.

Once.

Twice.

And then they threw themselves at each other, Reese falling back with a splash. The muddy water rushed around the two as they rolled on top of each other and laughed hysterically, both sopping wet and equally dirty.

Imogen pinned Reese to the ground, sitting on his stomach and holding his wrists together above his head. She laughed triumphantly, smile wide and mocking.

Reese relaxed his shoulders and rolled his eyes. She had won, for now. Imogen could sense his surrender, and whooped heartily, grin impossibly wide.

It was then that they both realized they hadn't moved from their positions. Imogen's smile faded as she blinked down at Reese. As her grip loosened on his wrists, he leaned upward to give her a loving peck on the lips.

Suddenly Imogen wasn't cold anymore.

Soon they were engaged in a frantic lip-locking, Imogen collapsing on top of Reese to pull him closer. Skin slid against skin as Reese glided his palm along her sides. Their bodies were slick, moving against each other like clockwork. The rain raged on around them, but they paid it no mind.

It would've continued, too, if Imogen hadn't pulled away after a moment, breathing heavily. Reese raised a brow.

She looked down at him and wrinkled her nose. "You taste like mud."

Reese snorted, but gave her a wink. "You like the taste of mud, then?"

Imogen stuck her tongue out at him and sat up. Reese followed, winding his arms around her waist and smirking. Imogen watched him with a suspicious eye.

Reese moved to kiss her, but Imogen turned at the last moment, lips falling on her cheek instead. She could feel him grin.

He pulled back and launched again, lips puckered. Imogen dodged.

"Ew, Reese, stop! Agh-"

He leaned forward, pretending to be hurt.

"Aw but Imogen, I thought you wuuuuvved me."

"Not when your mouth tastes like dirt, idiot."

He clutched at his chest dramatically. "What ever happened to unconditional love?"

"What ever happened to breath mints?"

Imogen only saw the flash of his grin before she was pushed onto the earth with a huff, Reese above her. Prepared for an attack on her mouth, Imogen turned her head and squeezed her eyes shut.

But the contact never came. One eye open, she was about to ask just what Reese was doing when he launched his assault. Without warning, fingers jabbed and slid along her sides, and she gasped-

-before bursting into laughter.

Mercilessly, he continued, grinning at her pleasure-pain.

"I- ugh- hate- AHAHA- yoU SO- GODS- MUCH-"

He smiled. "I thought you wuuuuvvved me."

Imogen managed to crack an eye open. "You just- hAHA- want to hear me say it- STOOOPPP- don't you?"

"Yep."

When she spoke, her voice was shaky. "R-Reese Dumbass Hale, I wuuvv you."

His fingers stopped, and Imogen let out a relieved sigh.

She narrowed her eyes at him as her heartbeat slowed. "You're an idiot."

"Yes, but I'm your idiot."

Imogen snorted and wobbled onto her feet, regaining her balance. She held out her hand to Reese and he took it, heaving upwards.

The rain continued.

With one look, they both understood.

"You're coming over to my house, aren't you?"

"Yep."
