Nina was running through the woods, a glow stick gripped tightly in her right hand to light the way. She stopped, leaning heavily against a large tree. This looks like a good place to rest.
She thought, breathing hard. Footsteps sounded behind her and Nina turned, taking an offensive position. A branch crunched and someone stepped out of the brush.
She stepped forward, shining her glow stick out in front of her. The person snapped their head up, pushing a branch away. Nina screamed, and punched out in front of her.
"Ow fuck! What is wrong with you?" A familiar voice said.
"Jeff?" She asked, recoiling.
"Yes, who'd you think it was, a mur-" he cut himself short.
"No, I thought it was Toby, he's it." Something crashed through the bushes and Toby appeared, screaming and tackling them to the ground.
"TAG!! YOURE OUT!!!" He yelled, laughing and running off to tag out other players.
"Damn it! You got us caught you idiot!" Nina glared, crossing her arms.
"I got us caught? Says the person who punched me. I'm heading back to the mansion." Jeff started to walk away.
"This isn't over yet!" Nina yelled, grabbing his arm. She pulled, and they fell to the ground. Opening her eyes, she came face-to-face with Jeff.
His lips were pressed to hers and hers to his. Eyes wide, Nina pushed Jeff off of her and spat on the ground. A blush was spread across her nose and cheeks, and she blinked.
"Ew ew ew ewy ewy ewy ew! That's disgusting!" She said, fanning her face and spitting again.
Jeff smirked. "If you wanted to kiss me so bad you could've just said so." He stood and brushed the dirt off his hoodie, continuing his trek.
"Pompous ass!" Nina yelled after him. She sat up and began walking slowly towards the mansion.
Nina opened her door and collapsed on the bed, sighing into the soft pillow. Breathing in, she choked slightly on the pillow lining. Coughing, Nina opened the window.
"Why do the weird things happen to me?" She asked herself. Stepping out onto the roof, she sat down and stared at the darkened sky. Stars twinkled in random disorder, occasionally showing a constellation. Fog clouded the air, shedding droplets of cool water onto the shingles.
Midnight fresh air filled Nina's lungs, and she turned to the sound of soft footsteps behind her. A white hoodie burned through the dark, and she groaned complainingly.
"You just have to have an input in everything don't you?" Nina sighed, resting her forehead on her knees.
"Sort of. I'm gonna go to the other side of the roof." Jeff walked a few steps, then Nina mumbled. "What was that?" He asked.
Nina sighed again. "Just stay here, it's the best view. But don't come near me, I will push you off of here." Jeff laughed, sitting cross-legged 5 feet away. Silence settled over and nothing happened for a while.
Fog crept over the house, forming droplets of water on them. Nina shivered, teeth chattering slightly. Turning, Jeff squinted at her through the mist.
"Oh, are you cold? Um...hang on." Nina looked in his direction.
"What are you doing...?"she asked.
