The day began like any other day in Chicago...windy, shifting, and unpredictable. I've always wanted to live here, in a place that shifted weather like I shifted moods. I guess I was drawn to the hustle and bustle of a big city and the food...mainly the food. Sometimes when I pass Broadway and It's all lit up I pretend it's me that everyone inside is waiting for. But that big dream is too big for little me, a librarian who lives her life through her books and blushes at all the naughty parts.
I sat in my big comfy bed wrapped in my favorite beige sweater with a cup of steaming coffee. The first sip burned my tongue but the taste was sooo worth it. The train nearby blared its horn filling my apartment with the loud call. It used to shock me years ago but not anymore. The current book my nose was stuck in was a BDSM novel. I fell in love with the genre secretly, the dominance and submission. Each principle I wanted to apply to my own life and live out my pain/pleasure fantasy with my sadistic lover. I sighed because it was impossible because I was afraid of people...no, I was afraid of everything.
I would be overjoyed if I could find the basics in a romance novel. The "being swept off my feet" and "ravished" by my lover. That's not to say I haven't has love conquests because I have. There was a boy back in Detroit when I was 17 that I was in love with. I gave him my virginity and a month after our relationship met its end. He hurt me in ways I never predicted, but I got over it and him very quickly. Now that I'm 22 I'm pretty sure I know how this stuff works.
With my book finished I came to realize something extremely bothersome. Not only was my "book to read pile" empty but snowball, my cat, had eaten my breakfast roll, damn cat! I ran over and swatted him with my fly swatter "bad snowball!" I groaned. That mean I needed more books and more food, looks like today was a shopping day...yippee for me.
