Ellyon's Peak is about a week's journey from Redstone. It's a small town waaay down south, if south could get any farther.

Judging by it's topography, it is equally blessed with it's sandy beaches as it is with its infamous mountain peaks. For a moment, watching from the window of my ride, I finally got to see a glimpse of the outside world. And what a magnificent view at that.

My ride stopped in front of what seemed to be a large cabin in the middle of the woods.

The odd thing though is that no one seem to be home. Or at least, no one was there to welcome their guest who happened to be arriving today.

"Hello? Anybody home?" I called out, but no one answered.

So when I was about to let myself in, or at least wait in the porch for that matter, I was completely surprised when the door flung wide open in front of me that I almost lost my footing.

A young man with raven hair and brooding face came right passed me, clearly ignoring my presence. By the looks of how he stormed out of the place, he is probably quite pissed to see me.

An elder man, with the same features as the boy only with a wide smile plastered on his face instead of an ominous frown, followed right after and immediately came to greet me.

"You must be Xena! I'm Cornelius Chase, Ellrick's friend." He said while gesturing for me to enter the house. "You must be very tired," he began "please forgive my son, he's a bit... Difficult at times." Then gave an apologetic look for his son's behavior.

He didn't bother me that much and after a few chit chat about his friend, master Ellrick, he soon led me to my room where he said I could rest for a while.

"You've gotta be kidding me, dad!" I can't believe I am having this conversation with my father right now.

He did not even gave me a heads up with the trouble he'd be hauling in this miserable town, let alone in OUR family.

"Max, can't you see she's in grave danger? It's the least we could do to help your godfather. After everything he did for us." Here he goes again with his reasons. Even name dropping my godfather who I've never seen since I was seven.

Apparently, we owe our life to him and by giving back the favor, we must give her daughter a safe place until the mess with the hunters is settled.

But I have the feeling that that certain mess will follow us to this town. And dealing with those troublesome hunters is the last thing I would want to deal with right now.

Soon enough, we heard a car stop in front of the house. The scent of lavenders carried by the wind followed suit. I stole a peak through the window, while my father and I still argue about the whole situation.

She alighted the vehicle. And though I could not see her face, her brunette hair was the first thing I noticed. The forest breeze swept it lazily from her shoulders. And though she was still far outside, my enhanced senses first saw a glimpse of her hazel eyes once she turned around.

Trouble. This girl is trouble.

"Max," my father's voice jolted me from my thoughts.

Instead of answering him, I headed straight to the door and out of that place to vent my frustration elsewhere.

After a few hours of staring at the ceiling since I can't sleep in this new place, I finally decided to face the father and son downstairs.
