My Happy Ending

Chapter 2

I'm here alone on this bench looking around like a dumbass waiting for Kalyn to come back from getting her coffee. After 10 minutes of waiting she finally sits down next to me taking a sip of what looks like black coffee, how nice. I really want to ask her about her hooking up with that blond earlier, instead I take out a cigarette and light it up. I can see Kalyn in the corner of my eye starring at me disgusted as I bring up the cigarette to my lips and take a hit letting all the smoke out of my mouth.

"You know I care about you right?" Fuck, why does she have to do this every single time she wants something. Last time she asked me if she can give me a tattoo, she should have just asked me right away I would have said yes, either way, I like it actually. I look down at my thigh to see the tattoo, it's an anchor with a ribbon rapped around it with the saying  "You're the anchor that keeps my feet on the ground" with a K on the side representing her signature, it takes up half my thigh.

"What do you want?" Taking another hit from the cigarette.

"You should really hang out with us," Kalyn says to me as she stares down at her black coffee

I turn to her and arch my brow in confusion "Who's us?"

"Oh, you know.." She knows that I will say no but I guess she wants to test her luck today. "My friends" she looks up to stare at all the freshman walking by. "Alex, Tony, Gale, Brittany, Samantha. They are really nice people I really think you should meet them." 

"I'll pass" I can tell by the look on her face that she at least wanted me to think about it, I don't know why she cares so much about me being friends with hers I already know I wouldn't get along with them.

"But don't you think you need people in your life instead of wanting to be alone all the time?"

Ouch

"I already know Gale" She rolls her eyes at my remark, memories pass my mind of our time "together". "I also have Jake and..." She cuts me off by bursting out in laughter, "Jake?!" She chuckles. "All you two do is hook up with each other, I know you can't stand him."

I laugh "Hey, for your information we do talk besides hooking up all the time." We actually do stuff, I like his company in a weird way he's the only person who I can have a real conversation with, we have the same outlook on life except for different points of view and we debate, it's nice.

"Sure you do... Anyways I really do think you should talk to them." I let out a deep sigh, "Fine if you want we can go to gales dorm right now to say hi I guess." Since I only know him out of that group of people she just named along with being the closest one to us, I'd say it's about a five-minute walk, after saying that I turn to her and see her eyes light up and smile grow.

We both get up from the bench, I throw away my cigarette while Kalyn quickly jugs the rest of her coffee and throws it away as we make our way to Gales dorm.

On our walk to Gale's dorm Kalyn tells me all about Tony and how weird he is, talking about rocks and how some kids made a club it. Rocks, that's something.

"He's colorful"

We stand there waiting for Gale to open the door for us after Kalyn knocked on the door for the past five minutes.

"You know, we can always just open the door ourselves." As soon as I go for the door knob Kalyn starts to hit my arm trying to make me stop before I open the door completely along with warning me that he might be changing or something. I laugh at the idea of seeing him naked even though I already have.

Minutes after the door knob is taken from my hand to see that someone else has taken the door from me, I quickly put my hand down as Kalyn stops her movements. Frozen. We both stare up at a boy who is not Gale, instead of a boy with dark hair that has a curl at the front and has an indented type scar type thing on his forehead that's all that I see since we're all just here awkwardly staring at each other.

Snipping all us out of this awkward staring contest, Kalyn steps in front of me and shakes the boy's hand. "Hey, I'm Kalyn nice to meet you, you must be Gales new roommate!" She says in her fakest tone ever making me laugh. "Hey, I'm James nice to meet you too", I finally get a better look at "James" who is wearing some khaki skinny jeans along with a black polo and black vans. I look up to see Gale on his bed surprised to see me. "What?", I snap at Gale as I turn to see everyone's eyes are on me.

Great

"Uhh nothing" He stutters getting the words out his mouth, "I'm just surprised to see you here, you just never really stop by.." His eyes dozing off trying to not make eye contact with me but instead looking at James and Kalyn who are both awkwardly standing to look back at us. 

"Well today is your lucky day because Kalyn made me come here" Putting the attention back on me, Gale gets up to stand next to James who has been staring at me the whole time as I look at him his eyes quickly move on to Gale who's next to him, adjusting his glasses.

"So, I see that you guys have met James"

"Yeah.." Kalyn and I say in unison 

Something drops to the ground making a loud sound , We all quickly turn our attention to see what just happened, as Kalyn and I make eye contact with a wide-eyed woman with wavy brown hair staring at us clearly with disgust, making me want to call her out on it. I look down to see that she has dropped a box with small items like a hair brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. Kalyn trying to be nice picks up the box and hands it back to the woman who must be James mother.

"Hello ma'am, I'm Kalyn nice to meet you" I hope they don't believe this fake act Kalyn is putting on for them. 

I hear the woman quickly clear her throat and adjust herself in an attempt to play off what just happened and takes the box back from Kalyn, giving her back the fakest smile I have ever seen. "Oh yes, thank" clearing her throat again "Kalyn ..." 

It's so interesting seeing this woman trying to be nice, I hope Kalyn can tell that this woman is disgusted by her and I, of course by the way we look. 

 "Nice to meet you too, you can call me Anne" Giving Kalyn a fake smile as shes nods, "I would shake your hand but as you an see I'm otherwise occupied" Letting out an awkward laugh. Who the hell using those kinds of words or is that polite? I for sure don't and am not.

Breaking the silence, "Well we should get going now, Kayln, Gale" Leaving the room as Gale and Kalyn follow behind me. "Nice to meet you again," Kayln says again which right after I burst out in laughter along with calling her out on her fake little act.
