Ever since I'd found Amber going through May's papers it'd been really awkward. Ruby and Amelia and I made our way to their dorm monitor, Miss Briggs, as they shared a three person room.
"Um excuse me? Miss Briggs?" I asked, in what i thought was my most convincing voice. A middle aged lady, with long black hair turned around in a computer chair.
"Yes?" She asked in a bored tone.
"I'd like to request a room change, please." I said. She rolled her eyes and looked something up on her computer.
"Room 305 floor 3." She muttered, handing me a key. I turned back to Amelia and Ruby smiling - 305 was their dorm. We all jogged back to my dorm to pack my stuff, which wasn't a lot. I filled my suitcase with my casual clothes, then another one with my riding clothes. I put my bedding, wall decor, pillows and random stuff into a box and we all went down to our new dorm. Me holding the box and Amelia and Ruby with a suitcase each. Once at their dorm i got the middle bed, as when it came to choosing beds Ruby and Amelia had chosen the furthest from eachother so they had more room. I pinned up my posters on the wall above my bed and hung the photo collage of May and Maddy that Ruby made me above my bed frame.
"Fancy a celebratory ride?" I ask.
"Definitley," they say in unison.
"One second I'll text Jake." I say, pulling my phone from my pocket.
<Imogen> Hey, we are going for a ride. You coming? I x
<Jake> Sure! I'm on my way to the stables. J x
"Jakes on his way, lets go." I said. We all got changed into our riding outfits - Me wearing a plum coloured shirt and black breeches, Ruby wearing white breeches and a red and blue striped shirt and Amelia wearing a white shirt and brown breeches. I zipped up my tall boots and made my way down to the stables.
"Who you riding today then?" Amelia asks me on the way down.
"Depends what we are doing, Maddy I think though because May deserves a bit of time off." Amelia nods in agreement and we arrive at the stables, to find Jake standing in the aisle looking a bit shocked. Amelia snaps her fingers in front of his dazed face and says
"Earth to Jake, anyone in there?" Jakes head snaps round and says -
"Ladies, we have a new rival."
We all look at him, shocked until he continues,
"I've just been practically screamed out because I didnt get this new girls stall ready for her horse - looks worth a lot i must add. Didn't catch her name, she will probably be in our lesson tomorrow though. Anyway, lets get going shall we? I was thinking a chase me charlie." We all nod at this idea and go to get our horses ready. I end up picking Maddy, as she is a bold jumper. I place her black saddle pad on her dappled back and her brown show jumping saddle on top. I tug her little black ear bonnet on and fasten the bridle on top, before finishing with her boots. I fasten my helmet strap and mount up outside, before starting to warm up. Ruby Amelia and Jake all start warming up too, and eventually Ruby is on the ground setting up a 2 foot jump.
"We'll go up by "3 every time. So 2"3, 2"6, 2"9 and so on. Does that sound ok?" We all nod and she mounts back up.
"Lets go in age order, so Jake you're first, then Imogen, then Amelia then me. Cool?" Ruby says, and once again we all nod. Ruby, Amelia and I all stand by the gate, whilst Jake circles Pirate. He sets Pirate up towards the jump and Pirate eyes up the bright yellow pole. He jumps it, with about a metre to spare because of the 'scary' pole. Next is me, I canter Maddy a circle then approach the vertical. She swivels her ears and lengthens her stride and 1 2 3 we're over. Clear. Ruby and Amelia both go clear, and we raise the jump to 2"6 instead of 2"3 seeing as our horses cleared the 2" so well. Jake cleared it easily, then I approached it. Maddys hoof clipped the rail, due to a short stride into the fence but it didn't fall. Amelia and Ruby both cleared it so we decided to raise it to 3". Jake cleared it with room to spare, then it was my turn once again. I approached the jump and Maddy took off on the perfect stride, soaring over the fence. Ruby's horse, Allie knocked down the fence, so Ruby was out. Amelia cleared it, and we raised it to 3"6. We all cleared it and raised it to 3"9. Jake cleared it, I cleared it, but Amelia and Paddy had a refusal, which meant they were out. We raised it to 4" and Jake cleared it, however clipping the pole. Maddy took off and soared over the narrow fence, meaning we were now raising it to 4"3. Jake approached the jump, and Pirate took off with a grunt. Pirate didnt pick up his back right hoof and knocked the pole off its cups. If Maddy and I went clear we would win our mini Chase Me Charlie. I cantered her to the fence and she took off, snapping her knees up to her chest. She tucked her back legs over like a cat, and landed with a swish of her dark tail, the fence still in tact. Before I could say anything, an announcement came over the loudspeaker in the stable. Everyone hushed and listened in to what our head mistress had to say.
