Our interviewer Netty met up with Alexa ( hoziers ) to bring to you an exclusive interview with the author of Ease and Almost Lovers.
Alexa tell us something about yourself.
I am 20 years old, I'm mexican, I am studying Psychology and I want to do my master's in Sports Psychology. Football is my favorite sport but I have a soft spot for Box and recently I started liking Hockey.
We couldn't help but admire your books. Which was the first one and what got you started with writing?
You guys are so sweet, thank you ♡ The first book I wrote on this site is called Omegle. It's in spanish and I wrote it because a close friend of mine requested it. I don't know why I started writing to be honest. But a close friend of mine had a really popular FB Page where she wrote fanfiction of popular mexican footballers and I asked her if I could join and she kindly said yes. I was 16 at the time.
What motivates you to write?
The people who read and comment on them are a big part of this, but what motivates me the most is myself and the need to write better and better every story.
We've noticed you write in both English and Spanish, which do you prefer writing in and why?
It's more easy to narrate and describe things and some actions sound more poetic in English. There are a lot of actions that sounds good in English but when written in Spanish they don't make sense. I love Spanish, don't get me wrong. But written English is more easier than Spanish. I feel like I express myself better in English.
What/Who got you started on football?
My dad. He is a big football fan. I grew up with it. Sometimes it would just be something floating around me so I wouldn't pay a lot of attention to it, sometimes I would sit and watch match after match. Eventually I started liking it and I realized it was more than just a few men chasing a ball for a living. I realized the sacrifices and discipline and the passion people find in it, I found it really interesting.
What's the hardest and easiest thing about writing?
The hardest thing to write is, hands down, writing from the perspective of a guy. Honestly I find it so hard because I always feel my male characters are a bit off, I always wonder if males do this or that, should I write about this action or not?
The easiest thing for me to write is always the prologue. They usually start with the idea of the fic and I just develop the rest of the story and then I write the prologue.
How do you create the titles for your books?
I read somewhere that your art can influence someone else's art, and I find that very interesting as I find a lot of truth on it. Most of my books are based or inspired by songs, so they often have the song title or a reference to the song. And by that I don't mean the plot of my book is the same as the song's, I mean that the plot of my book fits the song in a way the song can be used as the soundtrack of the story.
Favorite book (s)? On or off Wattpad.

If you could spend a week with any footballer who would it be and why?
Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller because they look like they are really down to earth guys and they look like they know how to party and I'm pretty sure they would be amazing wingmans.
Are there any specific reasons behind your choice of username?
I just like Hozier a lot. I thought of changing it to something more football related but I would have to rebrand myself and I'm not in the mood for it hahah.
Any upcoming stories?
I'm always writing new stories but I don't always continue them. My plan is to finish all of my on going stories before publishing a new one, but I'm currently working on one about a wedding and the havoc it brings, I plan it to be humorous.
What are your thoughts on the current state of the football genre on Wattpad?
Its blowing up. More and more people are reading and commenting and it makes me feel happy and excited for my friends that write. The football genre is amazing and full of talented writers, I'm happy people are starting to realize that.
Do you support The Football Project? What do you think of it?
Of course I do. I think it's an amazing idea run by incredibly creative people that care about football and wattpad so much they decided to create a place where the community can hang and support their friends/mutuals.
Any writing tips you'd like to share that could help others?
Write every idea down, even if you think you'll remember it later. Write every line a character would say the moment it pops into your head, even if it not on the current chapter you are working on. Planing ahead and writing your ideas will make you more organized and you will have a sense of where you want your story going. And if you dont like the way something is coming out, leave it for a few hours and do something else, then read it again and you'll see your work with different eyes.
Any message for your readers?
Thank you so much for sticking with me, I know I'm not a very responsible author as I don't upload as frequently as we all want, but you guys are still here, reading and making my books hit such numbers never in my wildest dreams I thought they would have. I love every single one of you ♡
