He felt the cool breeze of autumn. The trees in the distance were already orange and the leaves were slowly falling, he came here every now and then to think of the 53 year old memories. Memories of that big tree where they met, that beautiful tree strong and hardy like a horse, it was a shame it got struck down by a lighting. Only a charred husk of what it used to be remained, he could relate. He softly touched the frail trunk and memories flushed in. He used to visit it daily back then, always accompanied by a cheery friend who always told him silly stories of that time they ate so much cookies they couldn't move for hours. He felt the breeze again, running through his wrinkled face and silver hair. He closed his eyes and the breeze rushed even harder... for an instant he felt as if he was 9 again, with that funny friend at his side smiling at him, telling him of how much they love autumn. He reached out for her, but before he could touch her. He opened his eyes. Silence was the only thing that accompanied him, it had been for a long time. He didn't mind though, after what he had been through he told himself he would never make the same mistakes again. He stood up, his legs were numb. He didn't even remember how long he had been sitting. It was getting dark, the sun was barely visible and the sky was turning purple. He decided it was time to go back and walked back to his truck, he stumbled and fell though. His legs and reflexes aren't what they used to be, although it is normal for someone at the age of 62, he cursed the heavens, as he had so long ago. In the middle of his curses he saw a glimpse of something, silver and brown coloured among the dead burnt branches of the tree. Almost like instinct he quickly grabbed it, it was a heart pendant a bit rusted but the years went easier on it that it had on him. He couldn't believe it, after all those years. He found it. Then the thought crossed his mind. Opening it. It made chills go down his spine, his hands shake and made him sweat. Still armed with valour and nostalgia, he opened it. Two young kids smiling and hugging each other were inside it and on the other side of the lid two names engraved. "Blaise and Robin, Best Friends!". His head was pounding just like his heart, he closed the pendant drew his hands into his face like hiding it in shame and cried, just like before.
