Zane stares at you, you wish you were able to tell what he was thinking behind those bright, blue eyes. You stand perfectly still and stare down at your shiny shoes. Finally, Zane speaks. "Wow, I-I never knew Y/N," he says in a surprisingly sweet voice.
You doubt him, "Are you being sarcastic?"
He shakes his head, "Surprisingly, no. I literally had no clue Y/N."
You look back down at your shoes, "Are you....creeped out by it?"
He starts to chuckle, "Y/N, I don't care. I'm not bothered by much..."
You frown, you knew he wouldn't be into you. This was the boy who hates love with a passion, how could you think you could actually change his mind about everything? Something in the back of your mind wanted you to still ask him, you knew it would bug you for the rest of the year if you didn't. You took and deep breath to prepare yourself for what you were about to do. "Zane, I know it's sudden, but will you go to the dance with me?"
His face turned to a bright red, noticing this, he started to try and cover more of his face with his mask. After a few minutes of wrestling with himself, he gave up and let the embarrassment show. "Y/N I don't like dances at all, but for you, I suppose I will," he sighed. You tried to hide your excitement as best as you could, but you couldn't possibly hold it in any longer. You jumped into his arms while he awkwardly wrapped his arms around you. You wanted this moment to last forever, but it sadly didn't.
Zane looked relieved when your feet touched the ground again. Once you were standing again, he spoke up. "Y/N, we can go to the dance, but can we avoid dating?" The realization sent in, Zane would go to the dance with you but after that you would go your separate ways again. You nod, you understood it completely now. Zane would never love you the way you loved him and that was something you were going to have to live with.
