Jenny

As the dull throbbing in my head and stomach subsided, I started to recognize the familiar silhoette of someone I wasn't too excited to see. Jenny Realight's back was outlined in the all to bright sun. The bright light made me wince and I recoiled ever so slightly to experience the shooting pain that originated from my most likely broken wrist.

My rustling of startled Jenny. She stood up quickly and turned around. Her hair swung around her shoulders and the wind blew a small strand onto the corner of her heavily glossed lip. She swept the strand off with a flustered swipe and brushed off her skirt.

There was a multitude of aches and pains throughout my entire body. But I bore with them for the moment and rose to a position where I could run if needed.

"No no no no! Sit! Sit sit sit." Jenny scrambled to make sure I was stable. As her hand brushed my shoulder, I shot back against the wall. Her hand drew back and she placed it on her other arm.

"I'm not trying to hurt you, Lucy. I just wanted to make sure you were alive. They did so much to you tha..." Jenny kept rambling. I didn't hear anything else. She called me Lucy. She used my name.

I sat down then. I ignored her completely and sat on the floor. She stopped talking and stared for a second. Then she sat down next to me.

"I'm sorry. For everything they have done. I don't want this. I-I-I, I don't know what I'm doing." She sighed and covered her face with her hands.

"I've known Minerva for all of my life. Then when she met Flare, everything changed. She got aggressive and snappy. And when we got into High School last year, and we met you, she... she kind of... disappeared. She wasn't the kind and caring girl that I grew up with. I don't know who she is anymore."

The weight of Jenny's speech reduced my hatred a little bit. Just enough that I took my good hand and slid it into her's. I squeezed her hand ever so slightly in a sign of forgiveness then stood up. As I brushed off my clothes, I realized that Jenny had laid our bags on the floor to form a pillow for me while I was unconcious.

I let out a quiet breath and looked to Jenny. She had gotten up and was standing against the wall. I reached down and picked up both of our bags, handed her the one with the puffy pink key chain and gave her a quick smile.

When she realized the meaning behind my actions, her mouth grew into a crecent moon that beamed brighter than the sun itself. I placed my index finger over my mouth as to shush her. Then I winked. She did the same and skipped away in the most bubbly and lighthearted way I have ever seen.

'We can be friends. Friends.' That word sounded nice in my head. So I mouthed the word.
