My back was sore from packing. My aunt had transfered me in for the second quarter. She had also spoken to the dorm leaders, principal, and all of my teachers about my "difficulty". In other words, she told everyone I'm a mute.
It had been four days since the Minerva/Uncle incident. And luckily, the day after was my last day of school at Crocus Academy. It was currently fall break and I had one week before I started school at Magnolia High. When my aunt remembered the name, for some reason it sounded familiar.
Everything was sore. I had stayed up all night packing and with only one good hand, it took longer than expected. So far I had two trunks and a small suitcase packed. I just needed a few more things.
The train ride took 5 hours and the cab would take more time. I wanted to unpack and nest before school started so I was going three days early. I had today to myself.
My aunt had said that since it was our last together for a while, we should go out. I agreed and went to get dressed. Since everything else was packed, I only had a pair of jeans and a baggy t-shirt. I threw them on and helped my aunt get ready. I helped her move from her bed to her wheelchair.
Once she was dressed, we moved to the top of the stairs and switched her from the wheelchair to the stairlift. I folded the wheelchair and walked beside her as the lift slid down the stairs.
I pushed her to the bus stop. The bus that went to the mall had a handicap entrance in the back.
It was always a relief to get out of the house. And it was always nice to go out with my aunt.
We went to our favorite store, Celestial Dress. Everything in there was super cheap and gorgeous. They focused mostly on stars and constilations. I tried on a blueish purple galaxy dress and three constilation crop tops. My aunt went around trying all of the hats. In the end, I got the crop top that said, Stars were born to Shine, in fancy gold letters.
When we went to check out, I saw a connection necklace that read, You are my star. I may not always be able to see you, but I know you will always be there.
I grabbed the necklace and placed it on the counter on top of the shirt. The cashier rung us up.
After Celestial Dress, we went to our favorite café. Towards the back of the mall, there was a hidden section. It didn't draw that much attention and had a ton of smaller shops. One of the stores was called Pyxis Pocket. It was a small, family based cafe. We ordered our usuals. My aunt got a small caramel macchiato. I got a medium strawberry vanilla frappachino.
We finished our drinks then decided to go for a walk in the park. The leaves on the trees were a beautiful shade of purple, brown, and orange. My feet crunched with every step. The crisp autumn air swirled around us, blowing our hair in all different directions.
My eyes felt full. And before I knew it, there was a single tear streaming down my face. This would be the last time I would spend time with my aunt for a while. The was the one person I could tell anything. I could be with her and feel completely safe.
I wouldn't have that anymore.
I wouldn't have someone to come crying to after a hard day. I wouldn't have someone to sing me to sleep. I wouldn't have my only friend. I wouldn't have a familiar surroundings. For the first time since she told me I was moving, the weight of the situation sunk in.
I was really leaving.
