Chapter 1: love at first sight

*Enjolras's POV*

After a tiring meeting with Marius and the rest of my boys, I walked around town a little. I made sure there were tons of people around, since I love tons of people staring at me.

I walked past the ABC café, where most people gather around. I got some looks, which is satisfying. I was about to wink at these lovely ladies (hehehe), when I passed by an alley. I quickly walked past, since I always thought alleys were so, so creepy, but just then, I heard shouting coming from the alley.

Being the nosy boy I am, I backtracked until my head was sticking around the corner and I could just see what was going on.

I saw an ugly man yelling at a girl who I'll bet was cringing with fear. After about a minute, the people shifted and I saw the victim: a girl. Better yet, a girl my age. She was beautiful, with dark hair and an essence of bravery. I saw the she was not in fact cowering, but her fists were clenched and she looked like she might pounce on him at any moment.

Although he was shouting loudly, the outside noise was even louder and I only caught a few words, like "daughter", "disgrace", "living on your own", things like that. Then she screamed back, and I caught words like "evil", "criminal", many words that should not be said, etc. Then I saw the man beat her. I cringed at the sight of him slapping her beautiful face.

So it seemed like the girl was the man's daughter. Because of his behavior, she either ran away and lived on her own or he kicked her out. Her father was a bad person and yelled at his innocent daughter. I suddenly wondered how a man like this could create a beautiful girl like that. The man stormed out of the alley, not even noticing me. I remained a little longer, staring at the girl, seeing how perfect she was, unlike anyone else I've ever met. I know I've seen her around, but I guess she's more appealing now that I see what she's like. Tough, charming, a bit like me.

She started to turn around. I was too busy looking at her perfection that I didn't notice until she had already spotted me. I ran out into the darkness.
