Eight

Lucifer stayed until well after she had fallen asleep. He left just to get food. He worried about her for the ten minutes he was gone.

Mei was asleep dreaming about before she was a hunter. It was so peaceful.

"Mooooom!" She says graceful running down the stairs.

"Yes?" Her mother calls from the kitchen.

"Can I go to the movies with Annie?" She asks leaning on the door frame.

"It will be fine just be home before 7:00. Your father is having guests." Her mother says turning to dig through her purse.

"Thanks mom! Love you!" She says taking the money her mother gave her.

She walked out the door when the car pulled up to the house.

"How does it feel to be 17?" She asks Annie when she gets in shotgun.

"Good! It would feel better if I had a job." Annie replies.

After the movie Mei walks up to the house. She checks her watch to see what time it is. It's only 6:45.

She opens the door with her key. There was small drips of blood leading to the kitchen. She quickly grabbed a small gun the family kept in a hidden part of the wall.

When she got to the kitchen it was too late. There was so much blood. Her mother was in pieces on the floor.

Worried about her dad she ran up to the second floor not caring how much noise she made.

In his office, he wasn't in pieces but he was dead. It was execution style.

Bolting awake Mei, looks around the room for someone to comfort her. Lucifer walks through the door holding some food on a plate.

When he saw the look on Mei's face he set the plate down on the desk next to the door.

"Mei? What's wrong?" He asks worryingly

"I had a dream about the day I became an orphan" she says sitting up.

Lucifer walks over to her bed and sits down on the edge of her bed. He stares at her with a sad look on his face.

"It's not your fault." He says

"They were looking for me. I somehow went to heaven and Naomi asked me what I am. If I was there they wouldn't be dead. I should have bee-" she gets cut off by Lucifer.

"Don't think like that. There are some people here that would hate for you to be dead." He says grabbing my hand.

Instead of saying anything, Mei leans forward and gives Lucifer a big hug.

"Look, Luci. What would I do without your help? I would still be in hell. " she says not wanting to let go.

"I hate people calling me that but you make it work" he says not wanting the hug to end also.
