The Story of JetraClan

Chapter 15

As we start walking to the called Gathering, Shadowmist and I taking the lead, I remember something that Shadowmist said.

"Shadowmist...?" I look at him.

"Yeah?"

"You called Sweetheart Sweetstar. How does that work?"

Shadowmist thinks for a moment, "ship gods made a new Clan...PetroliviaClan...Sweetstar's leader now. One cat, but she'll do."

I nod slowly.

Huh.

As we walk, my mind wanders to 'reality'. The girl I have a crush on...I think my parents caught me staring.

...Kaitlyn. That's her name.

We get closer to the pond. I can smell the other Clans.

Then we get there.

I survey the cats there. No a lot. 

I look at the rocks.

Sweetheart.

No, Sweetstar now. She gives me a look. A long, sad look.

"Alright. You all know how voting works, so grab a rock and go into the bush." Shadowmist yowls.

There's a big bush nearby. Inside are two holes. The left one is the leader, the right one is the challenger. The one with more stones wins.

As Foxdapple slips past me to grab a rock, she whispers, "you know I'll always vote for you."

I nod, then Shadowmist and I wait on the rock the JetraClan leader waits on.

I look at the sky.

It's a peaceful day. Bit breezy, but peaceful.

A few cats; Dawnfire, Snaketalon, Duskspirit, and Treepelt, give me looks. Good looks. Like they'll be by my side.

Shadowmist seems out of it, almost in a different place. He's probably in deep thought.

As the line for the bush gets longer, Sweethe-Sweetstar jumps onto our rock.

"So, when did you decide to come back?" She asks casually, looking at me.

"Maybe an hour ago." My voice is dull.

Sweetstar sighs. Then I notice the scars on her face.

"Sweetstar," I meow, "who hurt you?"

"Lightningstar, but it was a territory thing. Don't get involved." Sweetstar is more stern now.

That's something she'll be good at. I guess she already voted.

The line is getting smaller.

Now we wait.

Every cat has voted. Brindlestar has gone in. 

She comes back out.

"It was close, but we have the new leader of JetraClan." She announces loudly.

I tense up.

Brindlestar looks at Shadowmist.

"Shadowmist...your new name is Shadowstar."
