Chapter 12

I'm sitting in my tree. I've come to the conclusion that I have no idea what to do next.

One leg is swinging lazily in the air, but my mind is a train full of thoughts. There's traffic and crashes. There's rebelling thoughts.

My ears are flattened against the top of my head.

I can hardly do anything.

I just can't believe Sweetheart did that. I guess it does explain a few things, though...

Why she's tried so hard to impress me since the day she came...

She loves me more than anyone else.

I start chewing the bark of the tree, not caring if I get a splinter in my gums. I don't know how to deal with this. I probably never will.

I can hear Dustshine talking to Treepelt and Snaketalon, who have just returned. I can't hear what they're saying.

Then I hear Sweetheart. Her voice. Shadowmist's. He's angry. Probably at me. Rythmheart will calm him down soon, I know it.

I put my paws over my head and ears. Good, I can barely hear them anymore.

I can hear the leaves rustling, the wind and muffled raised voices.

Then I hear something else.

"Redstar!"

It's Sweetheart. I ignore her. I don't want to talk to her. I really don't.

"Yo, Redstar! Come down, please?" That's Foxdapple.

I'll listen to Foxdapple. After all, she's the temporary deputy.

I begin to scramble down the tree, claws scoring marks down the brown bark. I breathe in, and feel my anger come in with it. I exhale. It doesn't make me feel any better.

My paws touch the ground and I am greeted with the sight of Sweetheart, Foxdapple, Shadowmist and Rythmheart.

I feel my tail twitch as I refuse Sweetheart eye contact.

"'Sup, Foxdapple?" I ask as cool as I can.

"Sweetheart wanted to talk." Foxdapple flicked her tail at the grey cat.

My eyes slide over to Sweetheart but I don't move my head, giving her a sort of side glance. Her eyes are focused on her paws, which are shuffling.

Shadowmist gives her an encouraging nudge on the shoulder.

"I'm sorry..." Sweetheart mumbles, "I shouldn't have gotten angry."

She apologized.

My mood doesn't change.

"Yeah," I sigh, "Foxdapple's going to give you a warrior's assessment."

Sweetheart looks at me, eyes wide and sparkling.

"Really? Oh my gosh!" She squeaks, "when?"

"Now, I just gotta have a word with Foxdapple to make sure everything's A-okay." I meow.

I drag Foxdapple to the side where Sweetheart can't hear us. Shadowmist is staring at us, though, and Rythmheart is giving us a side glance while congratulating Sweetheart.

Foxdapple gives me a knowing look, and I lower my voice.

"Remember, she has to fail. That's the only way she'll learn." I whisper.

"Her injuries will drag her down," Foxdapple meows, "so I can do that. I guess it's a good way for her to learn that she has a while until she's a warrior."

I nod.

Then Foxdapple takes Sweetheart outside of camp, ready to do her warrior's assessment.

I sit down.

Shadowmist looks at me.

His face is riddled with suspicion.

Hahah look at that I'm so cruel

Anyway...

@JudgementGirl is doing a sort of spin-off in Sweetheart's point of view, so go check that out

And if you want something to do on Wattpad, I make a sort of Undertale AU and you can ask Stitch!Sans questions. He's lonely in his TimeSpace timeline.
