Celebrity Skin was a piece that I had begun many months ago on a cold day in September, I'd became doubtful of Many things. Nihilism settling in deep into my flesh like the lingering chill that hung in the air along with the heavily perfumed stench of Victoria's Secret Body Mist. It wasn't an intention of me to make this concept into something bigger. I'd thought to myself after a prolonged moment of raggedly breathing in my bedroom staring at the ceiling and almost stagnating hoping to fill in the gaps. Are these the characters I want to write? How can I personify decadence, flamboyance and Violence? I thought, what better than bitchy, borderline venomous Drag Queen hookers at eachothers throats? There's the flair, the glitter and the cyanide all wrapped up into one gorgeous, glamorous package.
After many hours of noting down character traits, listening to Celebrity Skin by Hole on repeat and dedicating myself to absorbing in the nineties culture despite this being set in the modern day, this fabulous catastrophe was born. I'd originally wrote awful drafts of this at 3am in October hoping to meet deadlines. But I realise now; You can't rush things. You can tell when something is forced, rushed or down right atrocious. So, on that note. It brings me great pleasure to announce that the first Chapter of Celebrity Skin will be released on Wednesday the 3rd of August, 6:30pm EST. Enjoy this abomination, as much as I enjoyed writing it.
