Camila's POV
"Mila, hurry up or we're going to be late!" I keep rushing through my small room in a two bedroom apartment I share with my Polynesian friend . Who is currently rushing and yelling at me for being "late". When in reality I still have 40 minutes to spare before my audition starts. Heck, I'm the one auditioning. I should be the one freaking out. But, in reality, I couldn't care less. I just want to curl up in my bed and sleep. I sigh, I better hurry up though. This could be my only chance.
"I'm almost done Dinah! Stop freaking out." I yell back to my best friend.
Dinah and I have been friends since sophomore year of high school. I was practically invisible back then, but Dinah was kind enough to be my friend. We hit it off since the first time we talked. She was a very shy girl, and so was I. But, we felt comfortable with each other. And we helped each other gain confidence. Thanks to her help I learned a lot of things, most importantly, to love myself. Not a lot of people have the guts to come out. They are usually forced or pressured to do it, sadly, that was my case. I'm just thankful those dark days are behind me. I'm happy with who I am now.
"Okay, all done." I say smiling to my friend who's pacing back and forth in our small living room.
"What took you so long!" the Polynesian says exasperated.I roll my eyes "Calm your islander tits Dinah. We still have time to get there. Besides you don't have to audition, your spot in the film is already safe. Remember?" I say with a trace of sarcasm.
The tall blonde girl scowls at me "Fine, next time let's see who will be worried about your sorry ass." Dinah crosses her arms and stomps towards the door.
I giggle but try to hold in my laughter so my friend doesn't become more mad. "Dinah" I whine "I was just messing around. I appreciate your concern and if it weren't for you I wouldn't even be auditioning right now. You know I love you." I say cutely while clinging on her neck in an awkward hug.
"Ugh, fine, whatever. Get off me" Dinah playfully shoves me "And damn right you owe me. When you're a famous actress/writer I want my helicopter and a Ferrari." she flips her hair and walks towards the door. I laugh, "Anything for my best friend. But I don't think you'll need my money when you're a famous Director." I tease back
Dinah scoffs "Girl, the more the merrier. You know the saying. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine."
"I don't think that's how the saying goes Dinah.""It goes that way in my book."
"Let's just go." I roll my eyes and leave the apartment.______________________________________________________________
We arrive 20 mins early at the building where the auditions are being held. Thankfully, it was only a few minutes far in walking distance from where we live. The building is not very big or modern, it just looks casual. It's funny how something that looks so normal can actually be a factor on how your whole life could change. It just a building, but inside that building all my dreams may come true.
"You ready?" my Polynesian friend looks at me. I shake my head and gulp.
Dinah takes my hands and squeezes it "You're going to do great, okay? They're going to love you." she gives me an encouraging smile. I take a deep breath and smile back.
We enter the building and the inside is very dull but more bigger than i thought it would be. We make our way towards the receptionist to ask her in which room the producers are waiting in. She kindly leads us towards the waiting room and bids goodbye. We thank her and then proceed to sit down and wait. I can't help but feel more nervous now.
The first time I auditioned it was rushed and crazy. I had to videotape myself doing a sketch of a obsessive girlfriend. It was all last minute because the last day of auditions was that day, which was also the same day I had to prepare myself and do my sketch. I was sure there was no way I would get the call back, but a few days later, I did. To say I was more than shocked is an understatement.
