CHAPTER 1:

The Mysterious Red Haired Girl From The Waves

Aquaria Island, Caribbean Sea

Six months after 2010 tsunami....

Charles Danvers shook his head at himself for the foolishness that he was making himself undergo right now.

Here he was being led by his pre-teen daughter Leanne down the steps of his beachfront home to the deserted beach bellow.

It was the off season of tourist season on the island so only islanders would party or play or just flat out BE on the beach this time of year, but the real reason that no one was on the beach by his home was because a storm was coming in at the moment.

Everyone who wasn't a thrill-seeking surfer was inside getting ready to ride the ocean storm out, this one looked like it would be an all-nighter, and It was starting to rain!

But here he was, following his daughter down the beach path at the beginning of a storm....because she insists that she saw a woman wash up on the beach that had scales on her skin.

"I don't know why I am humoring you Leanne!" Charles Danvers expressed with annoyance, "there is no such thing as a fish woman, mermaid or whatever they are called. Now stop this foolishness and let's get back inside before the storm gets worse!"

"I'm not joking dad...." Leanne insisted, and then pointed down the beach from her and her dad "she's right there!"

Charles put a hand over his eyes to block the heavy winds that were making him squint so that he could see what his daughter was pointing to...and sure enough in the failing light he could make out the still form of a woman lying face down on the beach shore!

Without a second thought, Charles raced with his daughter to the sight of the woman who was having minor storm waves wash over her legs now.

Charles skidded to a stop in the beach sand and knelt down beside the young woman and checked her.

She was just a teenager, maybe only three years older than Leanne.

She had fiery red hair, the likes of which Charles had never seen...and was wearing some kind of strange looking armor looking thing around her chest area....must be some kind of diving vest or something, but those markings and letters....what did they mean?

He saw that the young woman's legs were partway in the water of the waves surf, and so with caution he pulled her further to the safety of the shore.

"See, I told you...." Leanne said, pointing to the red headed girl's legs, "she has fish scales on her legs!"

Charles looked down at the unconscious girls legs, and to no surprise he saw nothing but bare female legs, like the kind every female had....no scales.

He gave his daughter an "are you serious?" expression before he began checking the unmoving youth in his arms for life signs.

Leanne was still looking at the unmoving girls legs with confusion and disbelief.

"She was a mermaid dad; I swear she had fish like scales on her legs!" Leanne insisted.

"Leanne stop it, now's not the time....!" Charles said sternly, and placed two fingers under the red haired girl's neck and pressed firmly down in order to check and see if there was a pulse.
