It was a maths lesson and no one was expecting Annabella to be pretty and smart, so when she went up to the blackboard and started writing all the digits of pi; which was in fact the answer to the given question , everyone was shocked once again by the new girl.
'3.141592653593238462643...' she mumbled absent-mindedly, as she wrote the numbers with a piece of chalk. The process was pretty time consuming but no one complained as it meant less time being taught by their insufferable maths teacher, Miss Stonewall .Then she eventually had to stop writing once there was no longer any space on the board. 'That is the answer to question 27.' she grinned triumphantly and went back to her desk as she received a round of applause. Whilst Miss Stonewall was given the long task of cleaning the blackboard that was covered in numbers. The class then burst into chatter and started talking about how perfect the new girl was. Annabella just smiled at everyone and didn't seem to have a care in the world.
The bell rang, signalling the end of class and everyone began to pack up. The students rushed out of the classroom and went to their lockers. Jace spotted Annabella by her locker, surrounded by a group of people. He squeezed through the crowd, grabbed her hand and pulled her into the janitor's closet. 'Is there a problem?' the girl asked as she leaned against the wall, near a mop and bucket. Jace moved through the brooms and mops and stood in front of her.
'Yeah there is, I can't figure you out.' he replied.
'You don't need to.'
'But I want to.' he looked at her intently and she huffed, seemingly annoyed by his persistent behaviour. 'Why did your eyes change colour?' questioned Jace.
'They didn't.'
'They turned yellow. Why did they turn yellow?'
'I'll tell you one thing for now,' she sighed exasperatedly 'My eyes change colour because of my emotions.'
'So your eyes changed colour because you were feeling...' he paused, not sure of how to find the right word.
'Playful, mischievous maybe a bit mean.' she finished his sentence.
'What about your other emotions?'
'I said one thing.'
'Oh, come on!' he whined.
'How about you get your-damn-I was just about to say get your big nose out people's business, but your nose is so damn perfect.' she huffed again. Then she got on her tip-toes, grabbed his face and kissed his 'perfect' nose. Jace was left with a surprised look on his face. 'Couldn't you have been less attractive and have made things much easier for me.' the girl sighed once again and walked out of the door whilst grumbling in another language. Jace had never heard that language being spoken on earth before, but the thing that confused him the most was that he understood every word of it and it seemed so...familiar.
