I want to enjoy my life

I don't want to look back at the past and tell my kids all I did was focus in class

I don't want to be that boring straight A student

Who has no adventure to go with her intelligence

I don't want to look back at my high school yearbook

And see it says the girl who has no friends or the teachers pet or the smartass

I don't want to be that girl who looks back and says only if I did this right

I wanna be that girl who is able to say she had a life

I wanna be able to say I joined the volleyball team and hit the ball over the net

I wanna be able to say I joined the poetry club and won first place in the contest

I wanna be able to say I joined the talent show and earned a standing ovation

I wanna be that girl who says she tried her best

I'm that girl who has beauty and brains

Because this year things are going to change

I'm that girl who has a life
