Inside My Head

Mari's POV

I slowly opened my eyes. Every part of my body had a dull ache. It hurt to move. I looked down to see my wrists tied tightly together.
What the hell?
I heard a soft laugh and looked up.
"Hello, poppet."
Then I remembered everything that had happened.
Being locked out of Arthur's house.
Watching Avengers with America.
Calling Taylor.
And, finally, being kidnapped.
I took in my surroundings. I sat at a chair that was pushed up to a table. A light shown from an unseen source but it only barely illuminated the room.
Oliver pulled up the chair across from mine and sat down.
"They're coming to find me.", I said quietly. He laughed again. Oliver's laugh was starting to annoy me. It was like the high pitched maniacal laugh that the villain does in Saturday morning cartoons.
"You think they love you. Care for you.", The 2p said, smirking.
I shrugged and nodded slightly. Oliver pulled out a medical looking file and began leafing through it.
Without looking up, he said
"No ones ever ready to love a problematic, schizophrenic kid right from the start."
My heart stopped.
Nobody knew that other than my parents and the idiotic doctors who had diagnosed me. I could feel my complexion paling as I slipped into memories I hadn't dwelled on in years.
Voices pounding in my ears.
Screams plaguing my mind.
Seeing things that weren't there.
Suddenly I opened my eyes.
Oliver stood across from me, yet we weren't where we had been before.


If I looked to the right I saw a sunlit forest. If I looked to the left I saw a dark woods. Both warm and cold air hit the sides of my body. I saw the black darkness of the left side attempt to seep into the right, sunlit side. It was only to be pushed back. However, I noticed there was more of the dark forest than the light.
"Welcome to your mind.", Oliver said while spreading his arms in a slightly theatrical pose.
