Ok. New house, new rules. Raccoon traps, rat poison, spotlights, cameras, bait...

I ran my hands through my snow-white hair as i drove down the tree-enclosed road and listed all the things I had in my mind for the 20375920740291th time. I had just moved out of the city for a nice little country home and a job as a forest trooper. This doesn't seem as bad as my friends were saying.

I pulled up to the house. It was newly renovated, surrounded by trees, and the back had a deck leading down to a lake. I saw a deer as I got out.

Wow... Its not even scared of me.

I dragged my suitcases out of the car. My furniture had already been brought in and organized. Now, for the rest of the day, I will organize. The traps and cameras have been set up, and as soon as they are activated my touchscreen watch will tell me where it is.

Thank Irene for GPS

~{Dusk}~

After a hard day's work I can go for a walk. The solidarity of the forest is calming.

But I should bring a gun.

Wolves are a problem.

So is death.

I grabbed my 9-mil and hopped out the door.

What's the worst that can happen?

~{Wayyy after dusk}~

Its been a few hours.

I've been on these trails dozens of times before on a side-by-side during the day! Why am I so lost right now?

I walked around for a little while more before sitting down on a tree stump.

Oh Irene how will I get home from here?

And that's when I heard a sound so frightening it chilled me to the bone.

A bear trap snap. And a yelp.

I ran towards the trap.

Surely enough it was one of my own.

But there was no animal attached to it, a stick had made it snap.

That's when I heard the growls.

Wolves.

I pulled out my 9-mil and pointed it towards the woods.

My hand shook from fear.

One guy against a pack of wolves. The packs up here get up to 20+ wolves. I only have 6 rounds.
