A New Discovery

Part #2

Where do I go? I thought, I was panicking. An idea hit me! It all happened in a second. I jumped into the boat, a terrible strike of pain hit my arm, and I kicked off, not even looking behind me to see if the puma was following me. Once I thought I was far enough, my arm stung and I looked down, my arm looked like it had been cut with a knife. Blood was gushing out like a waterfall. I dug in my first aid kit, grabbed a clean cloth, another cloth (except thicker), and some peroxide in case the cut had dirt or germs in it. First I got the clean cloth and lightly pressed it on my cut, put some peroxide on it, then lastly, I wrapped the thicker cloth over it.

It was 8:00 p.m. when the sleep actually started to hit me. I laid down and got my one and only blanket, and fell asleep.

I woke up with my blanket on the other side of the boat (not like I was surprised) I got up and wondered where I was. I wasn't floating fast enough to be home by now but I could be close. I ate breakfast(the usual, fish) and started paddling.

My arms were aching, my head hurt, and I had been paddling for hours non stop. I kept rowing for about five more minuets and eventually saw the colorful tops of the market stands and a bunch of people buzzing around like busy bees. I rowed some more to the sand and grabbed my stuff, took off my shoes and then hopped out. I dragged my boat to the place I rented it, not even caring that my bag strap was digging into my shoulder.

After I returned the boat, I started to walk home.

When I got home I checked in the mail box in case we got anything(but we never do) so I walked to the door. I held my breath and knocked. There were footsteps, the door swung open and there was my dad, staring at me.

"Am...Amy?" he stammered. He looked shocked. "Dad?" I said. There was a big pause. At the exact same moment we hugged. "I missed you so much!" he exclaimed "Dad, me too!!" I said we let go and my dad yelled "Susan, Amy's back!" At that precise moment, there were running footsteps from upstairs. Soon my mom came running down the stairs, her bright red hair falling out of her bun. "Amy!!" My mom exclaimed. She came running her arms open. I ran to hug her. "Come, I want to show you guys something." I said.

We went into my room and sat down on the bed. "Here, look at this." I said. I brought out my note book and my phone and showed them all the evidence I got. My parents huddled together and looked at the evidence.

"Honey it's great!" My mom said, "It's wonderful!" My dad said. I smiled. "Thanks! Now let's go to the mayor to show him the evidence of the creature."

We went to the mayors house and asked if we could talk to him. My dad had to give the guards his golden watch that his friend gave him in order to be able to talk to the mayor. We walked up to the mayors office and my parents sat down in the two chairs that were positioned in the back of the room, so I sat on the chair directly in front of the mayor. The mayor had a white beard and mustache, and short white hair.

"Yes?" He asked, "Um, we would like to show you a picture and drawing of a tiny bear creature that I found on a new island." I said nervously. "Ah, well may I see the evidence then?" The mayor said, "Yes sir" I said kindly. The mayor looked at the drawing I made and looked at the picture on my phone and mumbled something to himself. "Yes, yes, I think that is fine, I don't think there is anything like that creature on earth." He said, "Barbra, come!" He said strictly, a woman dressed in a blue dress with white flowers as the decoration came running in. "Yes, sir?" she said, "Tell Amanda to check if this creature is known." the mayor gave the maiden the drawing of the bear creature and the maiden exited the room.

"She may take a while." The mayor said, "That's fine." I said, trying to act casual, even though I was quite nervous. What if the creature was known? I would be so embarrassed! I looked back at my parents and my mom was looking at the flowers in the room, and my dad was looking at the painting with two men fighting on the horse, each with a sword. The maiden came into the room and the mayor straightened his sitting position. "Well?" the mayor said, I held my breath. "Amanda said that the creature was not known." she said. My stomach jumped in excitement. "Well, how much is that for the young lady?" the mayor asked the maiden, "Um, that would be.....twenty five thousand sir." the maiden said. My heart was pounding and my face lit up. "Very well, Barbra, give the young lady her money." the mayor said, "Yes sir." the maiden said Then the maiden exited the room and came back in a couple of minutes with stacks of money.

"Here you go." the maiden said, while giving me all the money, "Thank you!" I said excitedly, I was about to go out of the room with my parents, when I remembered something. "Um mayor sir, what about the new island that I found?" the mayor looked at me. "That was indeed a new island." he said tapping his chin, "You Deserve this." The mayor gave me a couple more thousands of dollars, and said "There you go." and smiled, I smiled back, "Thank you." I said, and then me and my parents went home.

Two years later

I woke up in my new pajamas that were very comfy and got up. I looked out of the painted windows, and saw little children running around, playing chase. My house was a lot more cleaner, and my parents finally had jobs. My dad was a builder and my mom was a librarian. I my self, worked at a bakery. I got dressed and went downstairs. I saw my dad reading the newspaper, and my mom was cooking bacon on the new oven we got. I sat down with my dad and said, "I better go to work." my dad looked up and said "OK, do you want any breakfast?" he said, "I'll eat it on the way." I stood up and got a napkin, then got some bacon and said goodbye to my parents. I walked out the door and thought to my self, What an other great year this will be.
