Opening my front door, I took the first step off my new beggining. Yes, I had a major headache, but that could be ignored. After all, this is my first day at the college campus. I never had proper college education, so this was the perfect time to go. There was peace, just like the world had dreamt of and imagined, no wars, no nothing. Maybe just the slight sound of silence that ran throughout the countries, but that was it. After a long yet somehow short war with Syria, everything calmed down. The people of the world remained to speak silently, so they may remain ignorant to th horrific truth of the world. After going somewhat a half mile, I looked over towards a group of soldiers from Germany. The uniforms were easy to recognize, since I've seen them more than once. Many who passed shuddered at their existance, since they had played a horrible role in the war. Even so, they were passive and mainly just took short detours to each country. They probably were here to protect a German Embassador for the time being, but why soldiers? Sometimes I wonder why they decide to drink at random times, I questioned before going on my merrily way, about to near the corner.
"Did you hear? About that new province?" I heard whilst I passed, immediately stopping to listen for a brief moment."There's some secret government there, look's like em' Eastern Germans got 'ere plans comin' along!" One of the men laughed heartily, as if the information was nothing to hear. There was a slight slur in his words, so he was oblivious and obviously drunk to the matter. What exactly could this mean? Well, I suppose that they were drunk for a while know, there was no point to ask.
Continuing my way across the street, I came across a lone singer, surrounded by people who were listening in awe. I usually took no notice towards these side artists, but something stopped me, and forced me to go watch.
"Come little children, I'll take thee away, into a land of enchantment..." The woman sang gleefully, "Into my garden of shadows..." I paused while everyone clapped hesitantly, before I stode away from the group. Today's even were just extraodinary.. They seem to fit in like puzzle pieces... But, what exactly was the big picture? I thought to myself more and more, having to drag myself and the amount of bags that weigh me down to the campus.
"Excuse me? Mam, do you happen to be.." A young woman walked up to me, just from the gates of the campus. Seems to be some sort of advisor, the woman looked very formal. She wore a nice uniform, something you'd see an official wear. Not some silly or fancy dress, but casual and very proper for her age. "..Ms. Faires?" She asked kindly, before shifting her glasses to get a better look at me. She had long flowing blonde hair, with intellegent looking emerald eyes. The look was completed with her hair being put up.
"Yes, I am. Please call me Iris, your name is?" I asked softly, giving her a light smile before letting it fade away.
"My name is Adela Drost, it's a pleasure to meet you." She said with ease, and returned the smile. She looked like the type to come and go, however, she seemed a bit strange herself. "I'm here to escort you to your dorm, unless you like to talk with the head master first?" She inquired more, shifting into a position to walk towards the destined area.
"I'd like to go straight to the headmaster, if you don't mind." I said bluntly, before moving infront of her and through the gates, forcing her to have to catch up to me. She didn't look like she was having a good time with changing to a faster pace. "Are you alright?" I asked before stopping shortly, to allow her worn body trudge up to me.
"Yes, I am. I'd appreciate it if you could wait a bit for me.. I'm not the most athletic." An obvious malfunction in her system appeared, I could easily see at that moment what was wrong, so I simply nodded and walked slower. It was only a matter of time before we arrived at the office, which wasn't that far. Adela walked up to the door, and cracked it open only a slight bit, before whispering something inaudible. With a wave of her hand, she stood out of the way and let me in, remaining outside to wait.
The headmaster's room wasn't that large, but more of a normal office look-alike. Some what the look of my old office. There were walls lined up with bookshelves, a nice auburn colored wall, matching with a hazel flooring. The whole room was neatly put together, with a desk in the far center, sitting there a middle-aged woman. She too, was in a formal attire.
"Hello dear. You must be Iris, am I correct?" She said, before pushing some of her hair away from her face to reveal strange wisteria colored eyes. Her hair was a soft white, that complimented these eyes. They surely had to be contacts of some sort-
"They aren't contacts. It's a type of.. Albinism as you may call it." She spoke abruptly, as if she read my mind. This woman was quite interesting indeed, very stern looking and possibly cold if you may call it. "You are Iris, correct?"
"Yes mam.." I said in return softly, before shifting my gaze back to her luminated royal eyes. Did they just change? That should just be the light tricking my eyes. "Classes start in a week, my dorm number is 27, and.."
"Adela will show you the location, your uniform is in your room, well more than one set of course your size, and you have a room mate." She noted once again, reading my mind yet again. I didn't dare to ask, so I just nodded and thanked her, before walking out of the room quickly. "My name is Mrs. Falco." She read my mind yet again.
"The headmaster is strange." I said to Adela as we entered the female dorms. "Well she can read minds... Another Psychic." She said hesitantly back, as if I were to know this. Wait, Psychic? This school wasn't supposed to have anything to do with that. I came here for a new start, to forget the past, not have it thrown back at my face. And to add to that, there was going to be way more wasn't there? Oh joy, I thought to myself, before mentally face palming.
She looked back at me, before taking out a small key and opening the door to my new dorm. It looked like she was my roomate, but she just seemed to mention it now with the key. Taking a step into the room, it was neatly done, the same colors as the headmaster's office. The room had two sides, each parrallel and congruent to the other. Except that one side was occupied and the other was not. My bed had presents and gifts that rested on it, seemed to be have put here by several others.
"I've been waiting for you to come here for a while, we were notified a month ago by the staff. Everyone was excited and such." She said casually, before resting on her bed. "Everyone got you a lot of things, they were happy to have another person to join the school. We don't get foriegners and new students on the campus usually, so it was a surprise." She added before laying on her side.
"What do you mean by Psychic?" I questioned her, and she stared at me strangely. "A lot of us here are psychic. Not everyone, but some are. The headmaster was involved with the government for a while before stepping down and coming here." She said before yawning, and staring at the wall. What was she staring at? Oh well. It doesn't seem like much will be explained, I'll have to find out myself. Everywhere I went seemed to have some sort of mishap. I sighed and looked off at the window, before back to my belongings.
I ignored her reaction and began to unpack my things. This area was surely strange, I honestly had no idea that this type of thing would be in the school of all places. I came here to just excel in my writing, but learning of something like this was something else. Maybe this University of Scholars wasn't just some school in the country side.. It was definitely something far more. It was best not to think about it for now.. It seemed everyone here had some wierd affiliation with something inhumane... Psychics? That couldn't possibly be...But not how my roomate was now talking to thin air. To herself.
