"Why are you here?" I heard the same group tell me, as I steadily rushed down the same narrow path I had done every day. "Come on, don't you see?" I gulped as I heard their shouts ring like sirens in my mind.
"You're a freak! Who the hell cares?" The same voices grew, and I felt the old monochrome shatter beneath me crumble slowly, their bullets of words went straight through my brain. Unfortunately, I had nothing to lose- I wasn't bullet proof. Then again, who is? When you get shot, you'll fall down no matter what. The world isn't free, difference and defiency leaves us bound by the same chains that led us out of the dark. Not many say much, they speak loud and clear, however some just will never hear.
"Where are you going? Aren't going to zap us you witch?" I whimpered as I heard their obnoxious laughs and cries at me, the world slowly turning dark as I continued fastening my pace, hoping I could run from my fears. Somehow, the fears always catch up. Around me, the buildings seemed to swirl and curl towards me in a mocking fashion, crumbing before reaching me, and the once blue sky was pitch black with the red moon shining down on me. It was like your worst nightmare brought to reality. Then, as I walked, I tripped against a stone and felt myself falling, and seeing my classmates laugh at the cliff top and point down, the rope around my neck tightened before I could reach the spikes beneath me-
"Iris! Wake up you sleepy head!" I woke up with a snap, panting before quickly recovering and retreating back into my inner bubble. Adela of course, was above me with her unusually all-day egotistic look, possibly with a sense of pride from my previous advice. The latter however, seemed to want to be informative for once. "I finally got you up! You were in such a deep trance- Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up so suddenly- I am so sorry!" I'm not sure if I was hallucinating, but she literally bowed for forgiveness. Not that it wasn't out of character, but it was dreafully hilarious. I almost could laugh, but let's be honest, I'm not the type to laugh.
"Doesn't matter." I stated disregarding the entire situation completely, and letting my eyes prey over towards the open window, "What time is it?" I added, drearyly listening to my scratchy and dull morning voice.
"It's about eight in the morning..." Adela began but trailed off after hearing something off in the distance. Of course I don't know what she is up too half the time, I've gotten used to her after the first seven hours of dorming with her. "But then again, we still have a couple of days until classes so we can meet everyone." She ended quickly, noticing my boredom get the best of me and basically going straight to the point.
I sighed and drifted back into my sleep, before being shaken once more by the frail roommate. I found it extremely odd how energetic she could be despite her weakness. "What is it? It's not like we are doing something extracuricular." I yawned, nudging her soft arm away as I buried myself in the comfort of my bed, retreating into nothingness.
"Iris, you wanted to meet everyone who had prepared your gifts remember?" She had laughed and tugged at my sheets, causing me to fall flat face off the bed. With a groan, I rubbed my face as I sat up on the wood floor, sensing her yet again bow down and rambling on and on apologizing for what she had done. If I had a dollar for every moment I began to get more upset I would be right wouldn't I? "Iris please get up. They are all waiting for you in the Lunch Hall." She pouted, and held out her hand urging me to get up from my position. Taking up on the offer, I took her hand and felt the world spin uncontrollably, my sudden realization from shock to acceptance took place and I allowed the vision to make it's full course.
I saw a young girl running upon a hill, happily picking flowers in a lace pink dress, hair perfectly done up. She seemed to be very graceful for her young age, her dress lightening up in correspondence with the beautiful sun rise in the background. Her father, in a suit and done up with his tie, ushered her to return and come back for her studies, and in doing so she had tripped. And I began to watch something even more strange happen, a plenty amount of spirits surrounded her, picking her up as she commanded, "Do not let me fall!" In turn, she floated. Her father, whom could not sense the spirits, was dumbfounded. As she was placed down, she ran to her father like any young child would do, with the innnocence of a sheep following it's herd blindly.
The vision was cut short by myself slowly returning to reality, with Adela's voice snapping me back, as I'm met with the same familiar smile from the small dream I had just seen. "Get dressed, we'll be leaving soon." She said happily, before prancing(Well, if she could prance) over to her side of the dorm. Once again I left to the closet where I had unpacked, and searched for an outfit. As per usual, I took out a plain outfit that didn't stand out nor was too pland. A plain blue hoodie with a tanktop underneath, along with a plaid dark blue and black skirt and black leggings, then sneakers. I brushed my hair solemnly, before letting Adela take over the task.
"Your hair is so soft! I don't understand why you don't do anything with it." She giggled before beginning to braid it.
I sighed in annoyance and broke the braids pattern, fluffing out my hair and commencing it to be tangled once more. "Could you please not do that? My hair is fine the way it is." I immediately stood up and walked out of the dorm with my notebook in a fast past, leaving a panting Adela to try her best to chase after me. Yes, unkind, but sometimes you just really get accustomed to being unkind. "Quicken your pace." Okay, maybe I was more than just rude about this.
As we speeded towards the Lunch Hall, I could hear Adela right behind me, telling me to be extremely careful. Whether or not it was just a hint, I would never know what happened next. When I entered the hall, everything was extremely empty except for some tables in mid air and one lone person in the middle, a guy levitating some people and another two fighting. Adela immediately walked in, "Calm down everyone! She's here!" In the most stern voice she could handle, causing all the tables to fall down along with the the floating guy reach the ground, and the others- well, let's just say the last thing I know was that-
A table flew at me.
