Once I packed up my belongings, we headed to the airport to fly to Oregon with Marissa. She sat very uneasy and started to fidget once we got on the plane.
"You scared about flying?" I asked a little shyly.
"No no, it's just that I forgot to mention one thing." I tense up at the thought of that.
"Well what is it?" I slowly asked Marissa.
"Well, I forgot to mention that, um, I have 8 sons."
I stare at her, expressionless, motionless, letting those words sink in.

After about 10 minutes, I take out my small journal that I doodle in and ask Marissa about her sons.
Nick is 21 and he's the oldest. He doesn't live with them, but visits usually once or twice a month. He's studying to get his masters in veterinary pathology.
Zach is 17 and going to be a senior in high school. He's the quarterback on the football team. He's thinking about majoring in a science field.
Zach's twin brother, Austin, is also a senior in high school, plays football as well and wrestles. He doesn't have the best grades.
Josh is 16 and is on the swim team and tennis team.
Alex is 15 and on the basketball team. He also volunteers at various animals shelters.
Liam is 13 and loves history and anything to do with the government and current world events. He's also adopted like me.
Nate and Bryce are 9 and are twins. They play hockey and football.
Seems simple enough to remember, right? Marissa tries to sound cheerful, "I hope your not too overwhelmed from all the boys, but honestly, most of them aren't that bad." Most of them. Fantastic.
