PROLOGUE...I stepped into the ballroom, but it was empty, except for him. He stood there in his black uniform and I frowned as I straightened out my dress. My strapless gown was a sapphire blue with a corset laced back and even with my heels I was still stood at least a foot shorter than him.

"Why aren't you dressed? We're going to be late to the party" I asked in concern and he sighed as he looked at me with a cool gaze.

"We aren't going to that party" he stated, a dark tone in his calm masculine voice, and I frowned in confusion as he prowled closer to me.

"I don't understand" I whispered and he sighed with a cold sneer as he leaned forward and kissed my forehead.

"There are many things you do not yet understand" he murmured softly and I frowned.

"Why are you acting so cryptic?" I hissed in frustration and froze as I felt him press a gun to my chest. The metal felt like ice against my skin and I stared up at him in horrified disbelief.

"Oh, My Dearest Fallon, there was a change in plans and they don't include you" he muttered coldly and I looked into his crimson eyes...

You think you know someone, and then you find out you known absolutely nothing about them. They could be your best friend or maybe even your lover, but in reality they are a complete stranger. Trust no one or you'll end up dead or worse... I learned that lesson the hard way. Before I was a totally different person; I was so open and trusting and that is a mistake I will regret until the day I die. If I just hadn't trusted them it would never have happened, no one would have gotten hurt. I know I can never go back and undo the past, but all the mistakes are on my conscience. I am haunted by those dark memories every single day and they are my burden alone to carry.

My name is Fallon Grey and this is my story...
