Mainly Shit and Lies

When I got home I opened the door to my mom screaming at someone on the phone. Sometimes I worry about her, she takes antidepressant and all but she's still stressed all the time. She sat at the dinner table with a pile of bills sitting in front of her and a cup of coffee. I set my backpack on the chair beside her and realized that she was still in her pajamas. She must be sick or something she never gets home this early from work.

"Hey mom"

"Hi, how was school?"

"Fine.''

"Are your friends in any of your classes?"

"Yeah, except for gym, it's mostly juniors, a couple seniors."

"That's nice"

"Mom?"

"What?"

"How would you describe your high school experience and don't sugar coat it."

"Mainly shit and lies."

Well at least she didn't sugar coat it. I walked down to the basement where my room was, pulled my phone out of my pocket and found one missed call from Maggie. We talked for a while and I decided to go over to her house. I ran up stairs to tell my mom.

"I'm going to Maggie's house."

"Who's taking you?''

"I think her mom is coming over to pick me up"

"Okay"

I waited outside for probably half an hour before Maggie's mom pulled into the driveway. Her mom can be weird, we listened to Chop Suey! on replay the whole way. As soon as we got to her house her mom said that she had to go grocery shopping and be home in about two hours so we went for a walk around her neighborhood. I liked her neighborhood, she knew everyone and there were a few streets we could walk down. As we were walking I told her about Andy and she, of course, said she was going to turn him into juice. I laughed and was silent for about three minutes until we got to Shelby's street. Shelby is in our grade, she's not my best friend but after a while you can kinda deal with her.

She has an older brother who's a senior and he always has friends over and all they do is sit by this tree in her front yard. I'm not complaining though, I get quite a few compliments from them. She was in her front yard so we of course started to talk to her. We were engaged in a conversation for about 10 minutes until one of her brothers friends said something that caught our attention.

"Dude, I'd totally fuck that girl in the yoga shorts."

Great idea for me to change into yoga shorts and not change my crop top. I already knew who said it, he's the only one that says he's gonna fuck me. I turned around to see her brother's friend, Danny, looking up at me from the ground waiting for a reaction.

"Thank you Danny, I missed your kind words in school today."

"Hey, if I talk to you in school we gonna end up in the janitor's closet if you know what I mean."

I didn't even get a chance to start screaming at him before someone punched him in the stomach. Since he was sitting down so when he hunched over in pain hos dark brown hair brushed against the grass. A tall blonde guy stood up and began kicking him. He turned around and I saw it was Andy. Why would he do that? I thought he was done but then then turned back around, pushed him onto his back and started punching him. I knew if i got in between them that Andy would stop. I ran over as fast as I could and got right up next to them.

"ARE YOU CRAZY? GET OFF HIM ANDY!" I pushed Andy off Danny and saw Danny clench his stomach in pain. Did he punch him in the face? He did, his mouth has cuts all over.

"So your just gonna take that from him? At least someone can stick up for you."

"I'm pretty sure I can stick up for myself even though it may not seem like it, it can take care of myself."

"Just leave Andy." I turned and saw the rage in Maggie's face as she said it.

Andy got in his black corvette (I know, why do the jerks always have to be hot and drive nice cars?) and drove off.

Shelby walked into her house and I asked Danny if he was okay before Maggie and I started back to her house. I called my mom and she said that she would put my clothes and makeup in a bag so Maggie's mom could pick them up on her way home. Tomorrow was sure to be and interesting day.
