Annabelle looks at Brian. "What's for breakfast?" There was stuff by my fort to eat. I usually ate the pineapples for breakfast."
"We have eggs, and I'll let you have a piece of bacon, but it's rare so don't tell anybody."
"Are these warm foods? I haven't eaten any since mommy said goodbye."
"Well now you can."
"Good, because I'm hungry."
Brian carries Annabelle to the dining room, and she sits down at a chair. Looking across the table and seeing other people, she asks Brian, " Who are they?"
"Part of our team, they'll protect us and we'll protect them."
"From the monsters?"
Brian nods and slips a piece of bacon under the table for her. Annabelle smiles and eats the bacon without drawing attention to herself. While he continues eating Annabelle whispers thank you and sits quietly trying not to draw any attention to herself. After breakfast Brian gives her to Alyssa. "I need you to go, but I'll be back. You're going to have to play with Princess Alyssa while I'm gone, ok?"
"Where are you going?"
"To fight off the monster I promise I'll be right back."
"Take my lucky teddy bear." Annabelle says handing him her teddy bear insistently. Brian takes her teddy bear and holds it.
"Bye" She says waving.
He waves back.
