                     Ch.3 Tsunami

As we traveled down the dark hall, it seemed more and more disturbing. I felt as if I were trapped, with nowhere to go. The dragon picked up an unlit torch and handed it to me. I held it in n my hands and it seemed surprisingly light. The dragon told me to twist it in between my hand until it felt hot. As I did what he said the torch started to catch fire. The flames were a beautiful mix of blue and orange. As we kept walking down the hall I noticed why it was so dark. Weapons scattered all over the floor, along with the bodies of enemies I suppose. We ducked into another long hallway. This one was clean and led to a big, empty cavern. The ceiling was dripping from the condensation. The dragon told me to go against the wall. I backed up and was grabbed by a pair of hands. Someone whispered in my ear,"You don't belong here." The dragon flicked his tail in my direction. He slapped something behind me and I heard a faint whimper. The dragon snarled and walked over to me. "I guess we have a visitor." By now I was in a headlock. The hands were cold and a little like sticks. I tried to wriggle out of it. That just made the thing throw me into a bag. That set me off. I screamed and I kicked and punched whatever was holding on to the bag. Nothing. Nothing was a solid hit. At this point I was getting really worked up, so I just sat there and cried. I wish I had never run away. I should have just talked it out with my mom. She always helps me when I'm in a tough situation.

Then I heard someone scream.

I found a rock that had fallen in with me and I scraped the cloth until I could see out. Now I got a complete view of the thing who tried to steal me. It was an old scraggly man with long gray hairs at the foot of the dragon. He had gold and emerald rings around his swollen fingers. His wrinkly face and body was shivering with fear. He was curled up in a ball with a long sharp, diamond dagger pointed up at the dragon. The dragon looked at the dagger with awe. He picked it up and tossed it on the ground in front of me. I scrambled out of the bag after I ripped a hole big enough to wiggle out of. The man started to yell at the top of his lungs. He shouted at me in a language I couldn't understand, but the dragon could. The dragon scowled and blew a giant wave, a giant fiery wave that rose up then crashed down on the man. He screamed again and the last thing we heard was a shriek from a man who willed me to save him. The ashes from the man blew out a tiny crack in the wall with a single breath.

The dagger glowed in the sliver of light.

The dragon held his hand out and I placed the dagger in his hand. He twisted it through his claws making satisfying swipe on the nails. He handed it back to me and nodded. "Tomorrow we will find leather to make a case for this beauty." I nodded my head and lit a torch. We walked back to the den and buried the knife under the pile of hay were I lay. The dragon curled up beside me wrapping his tail around my makeshift bed and draping his wings over the hay. "You say you don't have a name, huh?" I whispered. "Well that fire wave was pretty awesome, so I think I'll call you tsunami." He smiled, and I drifted off into peaceful dreams.
