"Stacy?!"

"Yeah?"

"Can you come down for a second. I need to talk to you about tonight," my mom called from the bottom step of the stairs.

"I'm on my way down," I said while getting up from my comfortable bed.

What could possibly be going on tonight, I thought to myself. All I wanted to do was stay in my room and rest the whole day. Was that too much to ask?

"Yes?" I asked, once I arrived downstairs.

My mother always made me speak properly in front of her and all my elders. Honestly, I hated it at first but over time I started getting used to it.

"We're having a ball tonight," my mom said casually.

"What?!" I shrieked.

"Excuse me?! There is no yelling in this household and you know that." "Sorry mother. Keep going," I said.

"Madeline is upstairs in your room waiting for you. She has picked out your ball gown and shoes for tonight. Get showered and start getting ready. The ball starts at seven. I would hurry if I were you," my mother said with a stern look on her face. "Yes,ma'am. I'll be on my way."

I rushed out of the kitchen and ran up the stairs and into my room. My mother could be so proper sometimes. Trust me, she's usually not like this.

"Ahh, Stacy. I'm so glad you're here. We don't have much time. Would you like anything special in your bath today?" Madeline, my maid, asked. "Some lavender would be nice." "Coming right up," Madeline replied before heading out.

I walked into my bathroom to get the water ready for my bath. Once it was almost to the top, I turned off the water on sat down on the tub.

Madeline cane in a few minutes later and hurriedly put in the lavender petals before walking out.

There's nothing more relaxing than having a nice, hot bath with lavender on a horrible, stressful day.

I quickly finished my bath and walked into my room with a towel around my body. Madeline was sat on my bed looking very thoughtful.

"I'm ready for my clothes, Madeline," I said in an attempt to scare her back to reality. "They're right behind the door, miss." "Excellent! Let me get it on and then you can start on my makeup."

I took off my towel as soon as Madeline left and started putting on my ball gown. It was an icy blue color with diamonds on the bodice. It was very puffy which meant I would have to be extra careful when walking.

After remembering how much trouble I had with zippers, I decided to call Madeline in.

"You look spectacular," Madeline said after zipping up my ball gown. "Thank you!" I replied with a genuine smile.

"Here are your shoes," Madeline said after handing me my matching high heels. "Wonderful."

"Let's get started on your makeup, shall we?"

"We shall," I replied with a smile.
