"Aww, sweetie you look gorgeous," my father said as soon as he entered the ball room.
"Thanks, daddy," I replied with a smile.
"Let's get this ball started," my father half yelled.
"Dereck..." my mother threatened with an angry look on her face.
"I'm sorry, honey," my father said to my mother. Although he had a serious look on his face, I could still see the smile in his eyes threatening to escape onto his lips.
"We'll talk later," my mom said to him, with the same serious look.
"The guests are starting to arrive," Madeline informed my parents, as soon as they had finished their discussion.
"Wonderful! Let 'em in," my father exclaimed with a smile.
~*~*~*
One by one the guests began to arrive. All at different times with the men wearing expensive suits and the women wearing sparkling ball gowns.
The place was starting to get packed and, according to my father, there were still more to come.
About 15 minutes into the ball I felt a tap on my shoulder. Thinking it was one of the men that worked for my father I decided to ignore it and kept walking.
"Did I do something wrong? Why are you ignoring me?" a familiar voice asked.
At hearing the British accent I never got tired of hearing I quickly turned around and ran towards him to give him a huge hug.
"Did you miss me?" Logan asked.
"Of course I did! But I didn't know you'd be here," I said with a smile I was sure was never going to drop.
"You're father invited me. He thought I would be able to keep you company," wink.
"Good thing, you're the best company I've had all night."
"I'm always glad to hear that. Sha'll we go outside so we can be alone for a minute?" his blue eyes glistening.
Before the word 'sure' could leave my mouth he grabbed my hand and made his way towards the backyard. After making sure we were alone, Logan crashed his lips onto mine.
We kissed for what felt like hours and we never stopped unless we needed a breather.
It had been too long since I had seen Logan. He was always on business trips with his father, Chase Williams, the owner of the well known company, LC Industries. Logan was usually never home so I rarely had much time with him.
I could help but remember the day we first started dating. It was about a year ago but I still remember that day as if it were yesterday.
He had taken me on a moonlit picnic about 6 months after we had started talking. I was looking up at the stars because they looked so beautiful that night and suddenly he got down on one knee and pulled out a ring. I knew it was a promise ring because it was too early in our relationship for him to propose. I mean we weren't even dating then. Before sliding the ring onto my finger he let me read the words engraved on it. On the outside of the ring was written "Stacy and Logan" on the inside "FOREVER". He slid it onto my finger and asked me to be his girlfriend. Of course I said yes, he was perfect.
I've never taken that ring off. Its the only piece that connects me to him and comforts me when he's gone.
"I missed you so much, Stacy. You have no idea how much I love you," he said between breaths.
"I missed you too. I always do. And you have no idea how much I love you," I countered with a huge smile planted on my face.
He took my hand once again and walked us towards the ball room. "May I have this dance, ma lady?"
"Of course you may, my handsome mans."
He led me towards the middle of the room and soon enough I was in a trance with the music. We danced the night away until we were interrupted by my father.
"Good to see you Logan but I need to borrow her for a quick second. Its urgent," my father spoke to Logan.
"Of course, sir," Logan replied. He gave me a quick kiss on the top of my head and sent me away with my father.
My dad led me to his office where two people were seated. He only ever took me to his office when something was really wrong or urgent.
"What is all this?" I asked cautiously.
"Kyle here," he said pointing to a young man who I recognized as our family photographer " has an offer. He would like you to be his model. The pay is good, the fame is great, and you're stunning, which you got from me, so why not?"
I was shocked. My parents never really showed interest in me getting a job so for my dad to ask me to become a model, something I didn't want to do, really shocked me.
"A model?! For him? I don't really think I'm qualified," I said, trying my best to get out of this.
I never once thought of becoming a model but knowing my father I knew he would make me take the offer, without argument. He loved looking good in front of people and rejecting a famous photographer would not make him look good. People would do anything to ruin my fathers career.
"Fine. I'll do it. May I go back to the ballroom now, father?"
"Yes, that's great. But first Charles," he pointed to the older man seated next to Kyle, "needs you to sign some paper work. Got anything to say Kyle before she leaves?"
Kyle looked startled for a moment before he regained his composure, "We start tomorrow morning at 11."
"Great, thanks," I answered sarcastically and started filling out the year contract. "Well, I'm done here. So I'll just head out now."
I started to back away from the room slowly and when my father didn't say anything I picked up my pace and almost ran in to the ballroom. I had to find Logan. He is the only one who can make me feel better.
I passed by several people, not caring if I happened to hit someone.
"Ouch," I heard someone say from behind me with that familiar British accent. I turned around and instantly found Logan in the crowd.
"Woman! Are you trying to hurt me? First emotionally, now physically!"
"Of course not."
"Good or then you wouldn't have anyone to dance with."
"You're right. I can't lose my dance partner. Let's go dance."
