The Recruit

A/N:
Okay so I just want to start out by saying thanks for choosing my book to read. Also, this is my first fanfic so sorry if there is any mistakes!!! I also take suggestions for future stories!

We were all lined up for some reason which I didn't know. Apparently the Commander decided to come and visit us in the middle of training. Right now, I am about 1/4 into my second year of training.

"ATTENTION!" Commander Keith Shadis shouted. We all turned our attention towards him as he started walking down the line of trainees.
"As you know, Commander Erwin of the Survey Corps has come to visit. I expect you all to be well behaved upon his arrival!" He ordered. We all responded with a "yes sir!" And a salute.

The commander came and ended up going along the long line of us. When he came to me, I tried my best to keep a straight face.

"Step forward cadet."

I did as I was told still keeping my straight face and salute.

"What's your name cadet?" He asked

"Cadet (f/n) (l/n) sir." I told him.

He nodded in approval and ordered me to follow him. I did as I was told and he led me to a carriage. He opened the door for me and gestured me to go inside. I did so and he went in after me.

"I want to ask you if you would like to stay with the Survey Corps for the rest of this year and then go back with the trainees for your last year to graduate." He explained to me.

I looked at him with wide eyes and a somewhat open mouth.

"But sir, I mean no disrespect but I don't think I'm ready yet!" I complained.

"Oh I apologize. I meant to ask if you are willing to join us for this year."

We sat there in silence as I thought about his offer. Finally, I made my decision.

"I accept your offer sir." I told him as he smiled at me.

"Welcome to the Survey Corps cadet. I will be right back to make the announcement to the others. Is there anyone you would like to say your farewells to before we leave?" He asked.

I shook my head and he got out. I saw him walk over to where Shadis was standing and told him something. Then, he went over to the line of cadets and shouted something. After he was done, I saw shocked faces on all of the cadets. I smiled to myself as Erwin made his way back towards me.

He got in and the carriage started to move. I waved to everyone as they waved back and started shouting goodbye.

"Well I hope you enjoy yourself in the Survey Corps (y/n). I will have someone retrieve all of your personal belongings and deliver them to your room I set up. Also, I will be having a girl by the name of Petra show you around. I hope you make good friends!" He told me.

"I look forward to meeting everyone sir and I do hope I make friends with Petra!" I smiled as he smiled back.

------------------At the Survey Corps HQ

I got out of the carriage where I was greeted by a soldier who was a good 3 inches taller than me and had strawberry blond hair that almost looked orange.

"Hello there! I'm Petra! You must me (f/n) (l/n) right?"she held out her hand.

I shook it and nodded my head and hummed in response.

"Well it's a pleasure to meet you!"

"Likewise" I responded.

"Well, I'm going to go back to my office to take care of some stuff so I'll just leave it to you two to tour the place." Erwin said and left just the two of us.

"Well what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Petra said as she grabbed my arm.

We headed inside and down a corridor. We went up some stairs and took a sharp turn left.

After a few doors in, we stopped.

"Well, this is your room! I hope you enjoy it! Well, I will show you the rest of the place and then you can get settled in okay?" She told me.

I smiled and nodded as she showed me the rest of the HQ. It surely was a massive place that would take some getting used to. When she was finished with the tour, I walked back to my room.

When I entered, I noticed that all of my stuff was already in there. I started to unload my bags and then I noticed that there was a uniform on the bed as well. Since it was nearly nighttime, I decided that I would put in on tomorrow and just put on my nightwear.

I put on my pjs and headed to bed. It was a rather eventful day and I wanted to make sure I got my rest for the following day. Only when I lied down, did I realize how tired I truly was.

Sadly, the memories of my childhood flooded my mind once more. It was a rather brutal childhood but I learned to manage. Nobody knows much of it because of certain reasons. But someday, someone's bound to know...
