Rosalie's P.O.V.~
It is 11:00pm the night before the choosing ceremony for dragons to choose their riders. It's to be the first in 100 years and quite frankly I'm not too sure it's really going to happen. I've never really been one for fairytales and all that. But if it really is going to happen then I'm excited. The dragon choosing is not something that you can affect in any way and it chooses two riders. Each rider has to be at least 18 years of age and if you are chosen it's because the dragon has seen something in you that it likes or sees to be of use, or so I'm told.I've never personally seen or met a dragon or it's riders. But they must go through strenuous training and if they fail they not only fail for just themselves they also fail that of their partner and their dragon. The dragon riders are chosen to protect the kingdom, it's villages, and keep everyone safe it's hard work and anyone could very easily get injured. While thinking of all the possibilities I drift into a deep sleep. At 6:00am I wake to the bells of everyone trying to get us up and about for the ceremony. I mentally curse the bells. I get up sleepily and start getting ready. At 7:00am I'm ready and walk downstairs for breakfast and am greeted with my mother and little sister shouting happy birthday at me ( I turn eighteen today). I jump back in surprise I didn't think anyone else would be awake at this hour. I giggle noticing they are still in their pjs I say thank you and they sit down with me as I quickly scarf down my food. The dragon ceremony starts at 8:00am and it's already 7:32am and it takes at least fifteen minutes on horseback to get to the arena where the dragons would chose. I quickly kiss my mother and sister on the cheek before I rush out. They wouldn't be allowed to come with me. Only citizens ages eighteen to twenty are allowed to enter. I am excited and nervous to be among the choices for the dragons. That is of they even come. I sigh to myself and Simi hope the legends are real. When I get there it's 7:50 since I took the long way there knowing I had more then enough time. I see the dragons starting to stretch their wings and snuffle the air. Everyone whoops loudly when the first dragon leaps into the air.
It's time.
I watch carefully as a red dragon came souring at the group of us. My breath caught when it grabbed the red headed girl next to me then made its way further into the group of us carefully picking it's next rider as other dragons approached.
"Didn't expect that" I whispered to myself.
The next dragon picked it's riders and this happened until nine dragons had picked their riders they looked to be very similar breeds to each other. According to the legends there should be tenth dragon. I got excited all over again when I see a white dragon coming straight towards me, I saw a look in her eyes that reminded me of myself. I don't know how I just know she's a girl. She stopped just in front of me and I reached a hand out to her somehow knowing she wouldn't hurt me. Everyone around me gasps, no one has ever been known to touch the dragon before it touches them. She snuffled my hand and then she completely bypassed my hand and gently headbutted me."Wow" I said to her. Her head was like triple the length of my body.
She extends her snow white wing to me to help me climb onto her back and off we went to find the second rider. I wondered who it might be as we approached a boy, not much older then me that I have never seen before. I wonder who he is....
Guess I will find out soon enough.
